S. Indian Ocean - INVEST 92S

There is an area of convection just southwest of Java and Sumatra. It looks like there may be some banding features trying to form. This may be the next INVEST/tropical cyclone to form. It looks a bit similiar to what Carina looked like in it's formative stages!

NOTHING YET, BUT IT LOOKS WELL-ORGANIZED. THE ENVIRONMENT ALSO SEEMS RATHER FAVORABLE. LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS AND IF JTWC/FNMOC MENTIONS IT!

TROPICAL CYCLONE OUTLOOK FOR THE CENTRAL INDIAN OCEAN
Issued at 12:00pm WST on Sunday the 12th of March 2006
For the area between LONGITUDES 90 - 110 EAST

There are no significant tropical lows evident and no indications that a
tropical cyclone will form within the next three days.

It has been way below normal in the south indian ocean. Hopefully something powerful will form soon!

Well... they have had around a dozen tropical cyclones this season... not that below normal. Plus... why would you want to see something powerful? :wink:

As long as it stays away in the middle of the indian why not root for a powerful cyclone? I would watch 60 east/9 south and 90 east/8 south. Both area's look interesting.
