Well this is the 15 day outlook on the 18Z GFS, so this will MOST LIKELY change...but wouldn't this be crazy if it played out? I mean WOW, this has snow and ice and frigged cold all the way down the plains with a massive severe outbreak in front. Doubt it will play out (especially since I doubt it would snow in Houston during the middle to later half of March), but cool to see on the GFS anyway...

I've seen it in the low 20's in Houston in March. It was quite a while ago, but if I remember it correctly it was like 22º on March 20th or something like that. This was back in the 70's or 80's. They are still having record cold in Russia. Maybe they expect some to make back over this way?? I don't expect it but it has happened before.

I don't think that this will happen.

I think it's fair to say winter is over... La Nina just doesn't favor a snow/ice event this late in the season.

ya accuweather has snow for march 16th for parts of the southern plains, little rock, arkansas, texarcana texas, Dallas/fort worth abilene wichita falls back to Amarillo, Tx with lows in the 20s at night... its possile? it snowed in fort worth and parts of Dallas about an inch in some spots last year on easter.. march 28th.. i think from Dallas westward theres a shot.. cold air has a hard time making it to east texas in march...march is the prime month for big lows in new mexico to develop in march and can send winter to the panhandle, west and North texas and oklahoma... at least theres a shot at more winter weather before the miserable heat of summer returns for the southern plains... :D

Winter is for the most part over. Of course many would say it never really started anyway (expect for that bit for about two weeks in February)

way out there EWG.. :D Tyler saying same thing in another forum. I am not biting just yet. Funny feeling that a lot of that air mass will be shunted east.

Yeah, I posted this 4 days ago, and as of now it looks like this will be more of an eastern event. we'll see though...anything can happen...but I highly doubt TX will see a winter storm out of this...may be some slightly cooler weather; but that's it.

a little ray of hope for north and west texans and oklahomans.. accuweather shows a snow/rain mix for amariilo, Dallas/fort worth abilene, oklahoma city and cities around that area on the night of march 22nd and march 23rd in the morning. but tomorrow thell probably have a high in the 70s... lol.. lol.... id like to see more wintry precipitation before the misery of summer hits......
