That was very interesting. Thanks for hosting that Mark. A couple things he said that I think will interest some folks:
- There may be a 28th "named" storm after analysis. I'm guessing that's TD27 since the other TDs have had their reports released.
- Emily will "very likely" be upgraded to a cat 5

well after listening to max it clearly seems we are in an active hurricane period but he clearly said there are a few issues that still have to develope in order to see who might be at the greatest risk.its funny because if seen alot people sayin its going to be a NC year ,there's no way to know that this early on and even during the heart of the season i think everyone should be ready in case of a threat from a hurricane no matter were you live.so what i took from listening to max is that now is the time to prepare and always have a hurricane plan inplace for you and your family.

Interesting that he said that.
I'm thinking he is talking about the June disturbance that moved inland over North Carolina as soon as it started to show cyclonic characteristics. I know there were some reports of VERY gusty winds (in the tropical storm range) in some places as the system moved northward.
If anyone has any information about this June disturbance and wind reports, please post...

Basically, he was trying to give an idea of the severity of the surge. People can related or imagine easier a category three with category five surge. However... what we hear is not to assume a category three will have category three surge. In the present, don't use the scale to relate to storm surge.
