is it just me?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

If the environment was more favorable, it probably would be trying to develop already.

From 2 weeks ago, temps have gone up, in spite of a cold front in Fl. And the loop current is looking like June. I am not liking what i see.

They don't do the sfc analysis during the off-season.

Also, the Loop Current is about water depth, not about water sfc SST, so high SST anomalies is not too bad. But high Heat Content anomalies will signal a stronger than normal Loop.

Actually, they do. It's produced four times a day, all year long.

For whatever reason, the RSMAS link that I use isn't working. However, you can use the below links for the surface analysis.

SFC Analysis 00Z
SFC Analysis 06Z
SFC Analysis 12Z
SFC Analysis 18Z

BTW, the SSTs are correct, but I'm confused--what are you guys talking about "it's a test"? What do you see that appears as a "test"? All the data on that page is factual.

Don't know yet unless you look at water depth. But given the overall warmth of the East this winter, that could perhaps give a jump start to the Tropics.

Senor - I had no idea. Learn something new every day. :)
When I first saw the thread I thought that the sfc analysis was put out, instead of not available, and I thought they weren't suppose to be put out, that's probably why Floyd mentioned it could be a test.

hmmm... interesting. I'll blame Canada.

Of course... no hard feelings toward our Canadian members.
