A tropical low, 1004 hPa, is situated in the Banda Sea. At 9am it was near
latitude 6S, longitude 131.5E, about 450km east southeast of Ambon in Indonesia
and 720km north of Darwin. The low is expected to move slowly towards the west
or southwest closer to the island of Timor.
The potential for development into a Tropical cyclone over the next few days is
estimated to be:
Tuesday: Moderate
Wednesday: High
Thursday: High
NOTE: Development Potential is an estimate of the probability of tropical
cyclone development for each day... Low = 10% or less, Moderate = 20% - 40%,
High = 50% or more.

was near latitude 7S, longitude 130.5E, about 450km southeast of Ambon in
Indonesia and 600km north of Darwin. The low is expected to remain well north of
the Australian coastline during the next three days, and move slowly towards the
west or southwest closer to the island of Timor. It may reach cyclone intensity
late on Wednesday or on Thursday.
The potential for development into a Tropical cyclone over the next few days is
estimated to be:
Wednesday: Moderate

Friday: High

127.3 E moving WEST at 6 knots. The low may develop into a tropical cyclone in
the next 18-24 hours.

FORECAST
Clockwise winds 20/30 knots expected to increase to 30/40 knots within 18-24
hours. Rough to very rough seas and rising swell.

For the area between LONGITUDES 110 - 129 EAST
At noon WST a tropical low, 1002hPa, was located in the Timor Sea near 10S 127E,
about 500 kilometres west northwest of Darwin and 480 kilometres north of
Kalumburu. The low is expected to continue moving slowly towards the west near
the island of Timor and remain well north of the Australian coastline during the
next three days. The low has not developed in the last few days but may
intensify over the weekend. It may reach cyclone intensity later on Saturday but
more likely early next week.
The potential for this system to develop into a Tropical cyclone over the next
few days is estimated to be:
Saturday: Moderate
Sunday: High
Monday: High
** NOTE: Development potential is an estimate of the probability of **
