My temp continues to drop as the intensity of the preci increases. I'm down to 36.2 on my digital thermometer. It's dropped close to 3 degrees the past hour.

Looks like I'm going to be in the moisture axis. As you can see from the loop, I'm getting Pacific moisture coming from the west, and if you'll notice at the end of the loop, gulf moisture is starting to surge northward...

Saturday morning. Nothing much to report from the state capital. Temps stayed above freezing although they are still slowly falling at 7:30 a.m. Periodic drizzle falling. Thankfully looks like a non-event for us.

So far, it doesn't even look like it's rained a drop outside my house. No ice, no sleet, nothing. And the rain chances have been dropped by the NWS. Hopefully, it never materializes and we get no freezing rain.

I've been getting light freezing rain for the past couple hours. It's supposed to continue for the rest of the day. Temps should fall into the upper 20's by mid-day. There also forcasting another round of precip for sunday night, but we'll just have to wait and see how that pans out...

NAM still wants to show precip pick up in DFW this afternoon, but so far radar returns in the surrounding areas don't support it. We'll see how this progresses, if any, as the day wears on.

cheezy, where are you seeing the precip chances increased to 80%? NWS still shows 40% for me and you. Here's the latest update:

FORECAST DISCUSSION...UPDATED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
1005 AM CST SAT FEB 18 2006

.UPDATE...
TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN SLOWLY FALLING THIS MORNING. HIGHS HAVE
ALREADY BEEN REACHED IN MOST AREAS...WITH TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO
HOLD NEARLY STEADY FOR THE REST OF TODAY. THE FREEZING LINE AS OF
16Z EXTENDED FROM NORTH OF SULPHUR SPRINGS...TO JUST SOUTH OF
TERRELL... TO JUST NORTH OF WACO...TO BURNET. PRECIPITATION TODAY IS
EXPECTED TO REMAIN VERY LIGHT ACROSS NORTH TEXAS. THE WINTER WEATHER
ADVISORY IS BORDERLINE AT BEST...BUT AM RELUCTANT TO CANCEL IT AS
THERE COULD STILL BE A FEW ICY SPOTS IF MORE PRECIPITATION DEVELOPS.
INITIAL LOOKS AT THE 12Z MODEL RUNS...INDICATE BEST PRECIPITATION
CHANCES TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY WILL BE ALONG AND NORTH OF THE RED
RIVER.

plainsman, we've got almost nothing over in Rockwall. I have no idea what it is your seeing, but I sure would like to know what websites you are getting your info from, because the official DFW NWS site shows nothing like what you are reporting. I'm not saying it's not occurring as you say, I just don't see evidence of it from the official NWS website.

My wife is wanting to drive out to Frisco from Rockwall, and I have no clue what to tell her as to the road conditions. Things look fine if you follow the NWS website and radar.

Try this site for Texas Road conditions:

http://www.dot.state.tx.us/hcr/main.htm

Nevermind...map doesn't show up.

But, if you use the site above, you can get to a map that will show you the roads that have icing/winter conditions.
