#1 Postby cycloneye » Sat Feb 11, 2006 3:41 pm

I voted for the Carolinas coast. What do you think where the most landfalls will occur in the U.S coastline?

Remember that the most important poll is getting closer to be posted at March 15 and that is the official storm2k forecast poll so get ready for that one.

I voted east FL coast given that we may well see a strong Cape season. Second choice would be East coast. Third, would be for the WGOM.....

I think the whole East Coast, especially the Carolinas, could be under the gun with the possible setup this year.

Actually, it is hard to say right now. Even though most say the Carolinas will get the most hits, that could very well change. The La Nina has already been in place since October; I doubt it will remain this strong all the way into August or September. I think that, by summer, the La Nina will likely fluctuate/moderate, leaving a split ridge that will be strong at times and weaker at other times. I think that hits will be evenly split between the Carolinas, New England and eastern Canada, southeast Florida and the Bahamas, and western and central Texas and Mexico and the islands and countries in the Caribbean. I think those areas will be the most vulnerable this year.

As noted above, I think you may have it nailed for at least your East Coast thinking. I have this terrible feeling that the gig may be up for my general area of Eastern New England (only five miles west of Maine here) this season

Let's have more votes to this poll as 27 is a relativly low total. The poll voting looks good with a spread of the areas.

I still believe that the Florida Panhandle is the most likely place to see the most activity, especially with the paths of the storms the past couple of years. I don't see things changing much for 06.

 i pray in a couple of months the early indications are for the Bermuda high to set up further east

It all depends on the Bermuda High and its approximate location.

For the last two seasons, from NOLA to Pensacola has been
under the gun, as well as the east coast of Florida.

The trend is for another active GOM season, but I hope that is not
the case for 2006.

Carolinas. If anything does make it in the gulf, then Florida panhandle.

Now that more days has gone by, I have formatted my predictions more. I think the Carolinas will get the most hits; however, Florida and Texas will follow very closely behind. The Carolinas will barely have more hits than Florida and Texas.

I say the East coast of Florida (especially SE, around Miami) will see the most hits this season.I totally disagree with the Carolinas seeing the most hits.We said the Carolinas were going to get slammed during the 2004 and 2005 seasons and it didn't happen, and I don't think it will happen this season.I'm not saying they won't get hit,I think they will, but I highly doubt they will see the most landfall in the U.S.
