Snow in Tampa, FL?

would .5" to 1" be a record all-time snowfall for Tampa? I know that you guys had .2" back in 1977, but I don't think I have ever heard of a 1" snowfall there. All I can say is that you guys better not get snow (lol)...I just moved to Houston from central Florida and have been hoping to see snow here. But now I am here and it will possibly snow there?! Just my luck.. lol. It would be cool if you guys got some though. Could you imagine! Global warming and such a warm January and then it snows in Florida? It would make national headlines (similar to the christmas eve snow in TX)!

I would not be surprised to see a few wet flakes with dare I say
"gulf effect snow". More than likely the very lowest levels will be just warm enough around Tampa. But coastal Pasco or Hernando county...maybe. I gave it a very brief mention on air today. I would be surprised if the snow totals the GFS is showing verified. This type of event would only yeild a few hundreths at most of QPF.

One potential would be enough lift from that secondary short wave for Sunday night/monday morning time frame. The 12z GFS shows it now making 4 straight runs of cold enough thickness, 850 heights, and lift but for me, I am not convinced just yet.

Snowed up to 10" in South Texas last year and we got nothing, along with Atlanta.

brent snow in South Texas is a lot more common then snow in central florida!!!!!!!!! lol... snow in south texas is not near as unusaul as it is in tampa.. i mean cmon snow in tampa is a 1 in 50 yr. event if that ya know.. san antonio and austin can see snow and birmingham and atlanta can miss out.. theres absolutely nothing unusual about that since Snow dips further south into Texas then it does in the southeast usually.... the only place in Texas where snow is very scarce is the rio grande valley like brownsville, laredo, etc. still arctic cold and snow in the rio grade is more common then cold and snow in central or south florida...

accuweather or weather channel show no hints at snow..... if theres a .00000000000000001 percent chance at a flurry do people from florida post that its going to snow.. i wouldnt trust that gfs bullcrap.. the weather channel is accurate at least for short term ya know... i would go by them ya know.....

well for christmas 2004, Brownsville saw 2" of snow. This was their second snowfall in history. So if it can happen there, then it can happen in Tampa. However, looking at the latest, I do not believe Tampa will be getting any snow on Monday.
