looks like this storm we've been tracking could be responsible for the ferry disaster on the Red Sea.... :(

I don't think so. Here is a satellite pic of the area from last night, 00z:

The small swirl in inner egypt are the remnants of the med. system we looked at. The red sea is to the right of the system.

It made landfall in Libya, I have no surface data from there.

Sorry I was talking about that 1995 "hurricane" in the Med.

Yes, that was the system I meant and that made landfall in Libya in January 1995.

I wonder if this was the system that sunk the ship in the Red Sea.

That is terrible. It was truely a tragedy at sea.

Right, this a tragedy in the Red Sea, but it was not the system we spoke about.
