The Fifth Season......."Nothing!"

Well.......never thought I'd live to see it, the fifth season is HERE, "NOTHING!"...............have you ANY idea what it's like NOT to have SNOW, RAIN, NOTHING for MONTHS and MONTHS???? I cannot describe the feeling, it's not spring, it's not fall, it's not summer, it dang sure isn't winter...........it's NOTHING!! Record warm temps, everything's DEAD and DYING, everything's BROWN and the animals are just as screwed up as WE are. Bees are out, ants are out, ROBINS are here, HUMMINGBIRDS are NOW here and there's NOTHING for them to EAT...........it's BIBLICAL to say the LEAST.....I've got my eyes peeled to the EAST, waiting!!!

Interesting to say the least. I remember as a kid always counting on the mountains to have heaps of snow. Last time I visited was 3 years ago and it was a totally different situation. There was over 3-4 ft of snow in the White Mountains. I would be in shock visiting there today. Hope the situation improves.

When will precipitation STOP falling from the sky???

Everything is soaked... grass is lush green... trees are budding... flowers are blooming...

It looks like we FINALLY get a long break starting on Sunday.

Enough is enough.

The end is just 72 hours away. But first we have to get through a huge windstorm on Saturday.

Yup and it's offical, the 2006 Wildland Fire Season is HERE We've got one going this morning already and wind gusts are expected to exceed 40 MPH today.......don't have a name for the fire yet, just heard it on the scanner and the REALLY BAD part is.......there ARE "NO" wildland fire crews availvable This is going to be a VERY interesting day to say the LEAST!!!

FOR SATURDAY...THE UPPER RIDGE AXIS WILL MOVE EASTWARD OVER THE STATE DURING THE DAY AS A STORM SYSTEM MOVES INTO THE NW U.S. BREEZY CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS MUCH OF NORTHERN AZ AND AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES WILL BE 10-15 DEGREES ABOVE SEASONAL NORMS. THE COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THE STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO FAR NORTHERN AZ AFTER MIDNIGHT...THEN ACROSS THE ENTIRE CWA BY EARLY SUNDAY AFTERNOON. MOISTURE WILL BE LIMITED WITH THE FRONT...WITH VERY LOW POPS CONFINED TO THE FAR NORTHERN ZONES. TEMPERATURES WILL BE 5-10 DEGREES COOLER FOR SUNDAY. NEXT WEEK LOOKS TO REMAIN DRY AS THE UPPER RIDGE REBUILDS TO OUR WEST. THIS WILL PLACE ARIZONA UNDER NORTH TO NORTHEAST FLOW AT THE SURFACE...KEEPING TEMPERATURES SEVERAL DEGREES COOLER THAN WHAT WE WOULD NORMALLY EXPECT WITH SUCH STRONG RIDGING.

Reminds me of a joke I read in Readers Digest a few months back:

"A woman moves to Seattle from Southern California. The day she moved into her new apartment it was raining. Six weeks later, the lady left her apartment in a rush to meet the bus at the bus stop, it was pouring rain.....she exclaimed in disgust when the bus slashed water on her, "Does it EVER quit raining here?" A little 5 year boy answered in a tiny voice, "How should I know, I'm only 5 years old?"

SOMETHING has to break As I've said a million times, I cannot even BEGIN to describe what it's like NOT having ANY moisture what so ever, it's beyond bizzare........surely it WILL rain or snow SOMEDAY won't it?

Yes... its been wet here. But now we are PRIMED for spring, summer, and fall.

Seattle has arguably the best weather in the country in all the important summer months.

Average high of 75 degrees... no humidity... sunny most of the time.


Can't beat it.

And this year the lakes are full... the rivers will be running strong all summer... and the trees are healthy. Its all good.

BTW - that joke is the most overused in Seattle. The locals here like to perpetutate the myth that it rains all the time here. Still has not kept out one million transplants mostly from CA.


Average rainfall in the summer months is less than 2 inches per month (May - September).

Some sunshine this morning out our back window... and a little bit of snow left on the ridge. Calm before the storm as we are expecting a windstorm tomorrow and then a week or more of sunshine!!
