I guess that would be Cindy. There were numerous tornado warnings here with it.
Dennis: Probably next worse... lots of rain/some wind, brief power outage
Katrina: Some squalls and a little wind, but much less than Dennis.
Rita: Same... West AL got hit really hard by tornadoes
The rest(except for the remains of Arlene and a little of Tammy) did not affect me.

Katrina rocked my world so bad I wrote a book about it. In 14years of covering wars and disasters, I have NEVER seen anything like that, ever.

Katrina without any doubt. Not only did I have minor damage, I (like everyone else here) watched in shock and disbelief at the saga unfolding just 80 miles to my south. I vividly remember the absolute horror of watching my fellow Louisianaians go through literal hell. Then I took a trip to the Ms. Gulf coast on the Wed. after Katrina to bring supplies to my family and the first had sight of the MGC intensified the shock. When the evacuees began showing up here in Baton Rouge and I started talking to displaced students and hearing their stories I think the real depression and sorrow started setting in.
I would like to say that Katrina is still greatly affecting the MGC and Louisiana, the aftermath is almost as bad as the storm itself.

cant' let it die can you???
Hey, with all due respect; back off! The ones "not let[ting] it die" do not include yours truly. Frankly, I'm getting sick and tired of the almost endless posts on other threads that repeatedly "resurrect" the subject about how "weak" Katrina really was. Try rolling your eyes over there and giving them the same comment--again, with all due respect!

Indeed it is.
After reading the news yesterday, I got even more disgusted:
Iraq/Afghanistan - White House requests another $120 billion in 2006
Louisiana/MS/AL - White House requests antoher $18 billion in 2006
So it's $500 billion in tax payers dollars (plus future interest on the debt since we're running a deficit to fund it) vs. about $125 billion for America.
Are we planning on taxing Iraqis in the future?
Steve

I would have to say Hurricane Katrina. We evacuated for her. And the only damage the Houma/Thibodaux area had was tons of fallen trees and some sustained roof damage. We were fortunate and did not even loose a roof shingle. But it impacted me because of all my family living in New Orleans and on the MS Gulf Coast. My aunt and uncle nearly lost their home in Kenner due to flooding, but were able to save it. They just moved back maybe a month ago. My aunt's elderly friend who she sits with lost her home in Katrina due to the levee break. She has been living with my grandparents in Picayune, MS ever since. My grandparents, uncle and 10-year old cousin had the eyewall pass right over their house. But, amazing, no damage. Not even a roof shingle! But, it still impacted them greatly. They live right outside Picayune in Kiln and it is a very rural area. They would drive to Waveland 20 minutes away to do their shopping. Waveland is basically wiped out. My grandma is very sick with diabetes and various health problems and her doctor is in Gulfport. Not much left to that town either.
Rita was second to impact the Louisiana area. The southern half of Terrebonne Parish flooded severely. And many lost everything they owned. I live in northernmost Terrebonne Parish and did not get the surge. But, I feel for the people that did lose everything.

Wilma, although we were fortunate. Dennis had already cleared out the weakest of the trees and the flooding under my stilt home was only 6". Still it has cost me a bundle in vehicle repairs. Even with fresh water washing I lost a starter, wheel bearings, safety start switch on transmission and a hastened demise of the exhaust.
Just yesterday I was working in the Little league consession stand that took 18". Nasty. All appliances shot. Cabinets and not to mention ball equipment. The fun just never ends.
