Analog years....

#1 Postby Miss Mary » Mon Jan 30, 2006 7:36 am

Has there ever been a year like this winter, with unusually above average temps (Ohio Valley, Northeast, etc.) and then there was a return in winter say in February or even early March? An extended period I mean too.

I'm just curious. I recall warm spells during winter days but never an almost entire month (January). I think most of us are still in slight shock it's been way above freezing all month (daytime temps). I'm about to begin my spring yardwork at this rate.

Thanks.

I was actually thinking about mowing my grass!

One of our local Mets said that Feb will continue with above average temps but my gut tells me that winter will return with below normal temps (it is either my gut or sheer desperation.)

This is a GREAT question for donsutherland!!

The ensembles have been hinting at a return to cold weather but...

I think that December's cold temps in my neck of the woods stole January's thunder. They flip-flopped.

latest CPC guidance calls for below normal temps. for your area in the 8-14 day period (and possibly beyond).

When I lived in the UK all it did was rain in winter, when I lived in Spain it was usually sunny and warm, when I lived in Austin I wore shorts, now I am in PA I want snow!!
