Water temps in 70's in Gulf

Since we are having virtually no winter here in the deep south I'm worried about the water temps for the upcoming season. Right now in late Jan it doesn't have to go that far to the threshold of 80 degrees. I hoping for a pattern change or the waters will be boiling by June.

water temps at 65 degrees at st. pete. beach with temperatures today in the low 80's

Not quit warm enough for a tropical cyclone to form...Worth watching...I would really watch that loop currnet. Just think of it if it was 3 or 4 degrees warmer then last year.

A katrina of 200 mph...

You right to some degree but this may lend a hand to any early development in the GOM.We have been seeing earlier starts to the season latly as well as late comers.
