I hope in the near future satellites will replace Hurricane Hunters as the best source to get the most accurate and latest hurricane information. Therefore, it will be less expensive to operate them than to continue operating hurricane hunters. Especially in seasons like we just had. I think destruction will continue to mount and in the near future Katrina will be overwhelmed by another mortiferous and damaging hurricane. The fun will never end for us and I just hope people will get more prepare for future hurricane landfalls.

In 29 years I would expect to have whole new layers to radar/satellite technology that are not available now. We will be able to 100% accurately know the internal dynamics of a storm. The satellites will also be able to zoom in to extreme closeness for intensely detailed looks into a storm (as though you were floating above it). They will wear virtual reality glasses and stand in the eye wall looking around at all the dynamics. Also, computer models will become ever more accurate and the GFS will be able to get a forecast 7-days out right 90% of the time. It will still have trouble with days 10 and beyond though. Thousands of new models will also be created and an ultra-ensembles will be the key to forecasting. By 2035 warning technology will also go high-tech. Everyone in a city will have to register their cell phones to a warning system and if a warning is issued a call will be sent out to their cells and home phones (kind of like Notify...but free). Also, every city will be equipt with high tech warning devices such as bright neon flashing traffic signals (in case you can not hear your cell phone in the car), and sirens will be able to be heard for miles around, and even inside the house (but they wont be overpowering). Hurricane tracks will be nearly 100% accurate for the day 3 and closer period and 75% accurate for the day 5 and closer period. Evacuations will be ordered when a storm is 4-5 days out...NOT 1-2 days out. Weather technology will be GREAT in 2035!

of course not. This is a fantasy topic to some extent, because it hasn't happened yet. I just posted some things that would be great in the future..I am not trying to be a prophit and exactly predict the future though. I also said "nearly 100%" so I myself do not even think 100% is possible. It would be nice though.mike815 wrote:well never get 100% we cant beat mother nature where just on for the ride. Dont mess with nature she will take back what she owns. 100% accuracy will never happen.

Human flight into hurricanes will be a thing of the past. Drones simular to the one the military are using in Iraq will do the job. The drones will be piloted from the NHC, and given their range and ability to stay on station for long periods will provide near round the clock recon data. Also, using drones the upper atmosphere will be sampled far more often ahead of the cane allowing new super computers to accurately predict landfall location and intensity. This coupled with new satellite capability will allow the deployment of hurricane modification aircaft to intercept a potentially major hurricane and seed the storm with some new miracle product that will cause the hurricane to weaken before landfall......MGC

By the year 2035 NHC intensity forecasts will improve but still will not be 100% perfect.

By the year 2035 we screwed our Atmopshere up with trying to change hurricanes or weaken them. In 99 percent of the human race is living under ground. Thats because we would of destroyed the Atmosphere. If we don't make it to 2010 there was a global nuclear war with Iran in Russia backed Iran.

The nuclear war may produce a nuclear winter and we will all be sent into a nuclear ice age. Radio active snow will fall in the caribbean and NYC will turn to a block of ice!

That could also happen if a supercane hooked up with stratosphere cold, flash freezing the northern hemisphere

Google Earth on acid
I imagine models will be so advanced we will be able to navigate through a 3D holographic image of the atmosphere, enhanced by satellite information, able to turn on animated features that will mark troughs and ridges, again in 3D, show the spinning of highs and lows. Something like Goggle Earth on acid.
