Went down to Orlando this past weekend to cheer on the UL Ragin Jazz Dance Team which my daughter is a member of, at the UDA National College Dance Team Championships. I'm so proud of this young group which place 5th in HipHop and 9th in Jazz. Many many hours of hard work while maintaining their grades and having to perform at football games and mens and womens basketball games paid off!
I drove down for the first time instead of flying. Hey OTown....I kinda had a scenic tour of your city being that I lost my directions and mistook turnpike for tollroad! Went the loooooooooooooooooooong way around! Also got to visit Celebration Hospital where i had to bring my daughter for dehydration due to a virus. Oh what fun! Spent 6 hours in the ER while they gave her antinausea medicine and fluids to rehydrate her. But being the dedicated team member she is got up and danced twice on sunday, giving it her all!

Kids are resilient this way. Wish I had half their strength. So one hand I was surprised she still danced, but after witnessing my own kids come back quickly from the flu and such, I'm not all that surprised. Guess she figured you came all that way, she should at least try!
Remember the US gymnist who competed with a twisted ankle, in the Olympics? Yikes! That takes courage.....
Congrats CM!

Oh I am soooo proud of the entire team! The danced their hearts out and competed against some big name colleges.
I don't know if any of y'all ever watch the college dance and cheerleader competition on espn but it is so totally different live. The cheerleaders are unbelievable with their stunts. Kansas won this year and their tumbling...i don't know how they did it but they had their timing down perfect. It looked like they were going to collide with each other and each time they tumbled the audience would gasp and then go crazy with yelling and clapping. I originally thought..."Cheerleading...oh boy!" but was i wrong!

Congrats to them for their accomplishments! And hip hip horay for your daughter getting out there and dancing after the hospital incident. I had to take my 3 year old in for that not long ago, and about 1/4 of the way through the IV liquids whe was bouncing off the walls again. So kids are very resilient, so glad she could finish. So you got a little lost eh?
I was on the turnpike myself this weekend going out to see John in Kissimee. Glad you guys had a safe trip home.

Actually we are one of the few squads that has a guy on it! It's still quite rare but becoming more acceptable. My daughters high school team had a guy on it for one year too. The only problem with having a guy on the team is that is who you tend to watch instead of the whole team since most people aren't used to seeing a guy.
Here's a pic of their jazz dance: http://www.varsity.com/nationals/06/col ... isiana.jpg
and here's hiphop: http://www.varsity.com/nationals/06/col ... /lalaf.jpg
Thanks so much everyone!!!!

It was more than a twisted ankle, Mary. There were several torn ligaments and a third degree sprain....
