Sounds familiar right? Like when Iraq didn't let the inspectors go into their facilities.Let's see what President Bush has to say today when he speaks about Iran around noon at a news conference.

If we do take military action against Iran where are we going to get the troops to do so with? Isn't the military already having difficulty with recruitment and retention with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? Would it be necessary to reinstate the draft to ensure having enough troops to fight all 3 wars effectively?
On the issue of Israel's range, too bad they can't suddenly "find" some B-52s and the resources to support them.

We can't fight a war. We've got too many troops in Iraq and without some drastic reductions it can't happen.

That's a very big problem, yes. Also, there's the problem of what military action in Iran would do to the situation in Iraq, given that the dominant Shi'a factions have extensive ties to the Iranian regime.

Military action is a long way off in my opinion. Unlike Iraq where it was basically the American and the Brits fighting the battle, many more countries are turning up the heat in regards to Iran. Germany and France have both expressed a strong interest in keeping Iran's Nuclear capabilities in check. Lets not jump the gun, remember we battled Saddam for 13 or so years before we actually went into Iraq.

what a concept. We blew them up to hell in WWII and we now want to work together with them?
Why not? Or am I missing sarcasm here?

Those were different times. Hiltler was a tyrant who could not be reasoned with. Many of The German people were victimized as well. Their families were threatened if they didn't do as he said etc.wxcrazytwo wrote:alicia-w wrote:CNN Breaking News:

Iran has kicked out the UN. In which is acting alot like they have something already(A nuclear bomb), that or they have there head in the sand.
1# If they have a nuclear bomb then we sure as heck better pull our troops away from Iran. Or they could fire it on them to stop us from hiting there nuclear sites. In they could then threaten to hit country's through the middleeast in Europe. In which the only way then to fight them is with our nuclear weapons.
2# They just don't care or they live on another planet.
Or they could be playing us thinking what they have been hearing on the news has tied our hands. In which watching the news I can understand.

AP.Fighters deploy
Coinciding with increased tensions with Iran over the resumption of illicit uranium enrichment, the U.S. Air Force has dispatched additional warplanes to the region in a not-so-subtle sign, military sources say.
An entire wing of F-16s, the Air National Guard's 122nd Fighter Wing based in Fort Wayne, Ind., left for a base in southwest Asia on Tuesday. A wing is usually about 72 aircraft and several hundred support personnel.
F-16s and support personnel from the 4th Fighter Squadron of the 388th Fighter Wing based at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, also deployed recently to Iraq. The squadron has 12 F-16s.
Both units' F-16s could be used in any military operation to take out Iranian nuclear facilities.
Ummm interesting development here with those planes going to that part of the world. Will rumors of a strike that was discussed in the last few weeks will go ahead?

(CNN) -- President Bush, in a joint appearance with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the White House on Friday, said that Iran, "armed with a nuclear weapon, poses a grave threat to the security of the world."
Merkel said it was essential that as many nations as possible take a common position against Iran's nuclear activities. "We certainly will not be intimidated by a country such as Iran," she said.
Bush said their meeting was part of a "proactive" diplomatic effort to determine how best to confront Iran over its fledgling nuclear program. The two leaders closing ranks comes amid growing international efforts to persuade Iran to halt its nuclear program.
Sidestepping a question about whether he favored sanctions, Bush said, "I'm not going to prejudge what the United Nations Security Council should do. But I recognize that it's logical that a country which has rejected diplomatic entreaties be sent to the United Nations Security Council."
"The president of Iran said that the destruction of Israel is an important part of their agenda, and that's unacceptable," Bush said. "And the development of a nuclear weapon, it seems to me, would bring them closer to that objective."
Above are the complete statements by Bush and the German Chancellor talking about Iran.

Kinda makes me wish we'd gone after a real threat in '03 instead of Iraq.
I believe down the road we would have ended up going to war with both.. I wouldn't doubt syria and north korea will be dealing with in my life time as well...

I can only hope you're wrong, because the scenario you describe can only end in the death of the USA. We are militarily and economically overstretched already just with iraq. Multiply that by four, and we just can't handle it. This is why coalition-building makes sense.
