Family dog debacle

#1 Postby alicia-w » Thu Jan 12, 2006 4:01 pm

Our sheltie, Lucy, has been falling apart for the last several days. I finally got her into the vet this morning, fully expecting to have to put her down.

We thought she had an abscess on the belly. Good lord, it smells gross. And she has just been dragging the last few days.

So the vet says she has tumors, not abscesses, a UTI, and bronchitis. He said none of that is unusual for an older female sheltie. the good news is that we dont have to put her down at all. she gets antibiotics this week and surgery next. Hurray!

I'm happy for you and your dog, in that what's wrong with her can be cured. Good luck with both your and her recovery.

Wonderful news.....longterm. Right now I'm sure she doesn't feel well but will recover.

I think I'd be crying tears of joy!!! I'm so absolutely crazy about our Golden....I refer to as my third daughter. Saying I feel like I gave birth to her, she's glued to my side usually. So sweet.

Pets sure can work their way into your heart can't they? Glad this turned out well alicia.

I'm glad that the outcome wasn't what you originally expected. I hope she feels better soon!
