Knowing John...even if that were the possible case...he's one person like many of us that would have S2K withdrawal syndrome!

Yup I agree Eric, and what is the harm in stopping by a store to check if its right there anyways? I hope it is a girlfriend or something very simple, maybe someone will hear from him soon.

It could be nothing. But, it does not hurt to check, right? He could just be very busy or having computer problems. And remember he does not drive, he relies on the bus for his transportation. So if he is having computer problems, he can not just jump and go whenever he feels like it to a place with internet connections. Unlike someone who has a car. We are not trying to be nosy and pry into his personal life, we are just concerened. Would you be concerned about me if I did not post in over a month? Whenever I have a steady boyfriend, I still find plenty of time to get online.

I would be upset if someone from an internet message board tracked me down at work and asked around about me there. But that's just me.

Yeah, I might get kind of upset if someone from an internet message board showed up out of the blue and started asking questions about me at work. I only met 1 member from Storm2K in person because he only lives 15 minutes from me. But, everyone else is still considered strangers even if I have been a member for close to 2 years. Because you still don't really know the person besides what they type on this computer. But, if I only knew that the person checked on me because they were concerened, I would probably just get over it. I would probably end up being flattered in the end that they cared that much about me.

I would like to think if I stopped posting for a month, someone here would at least check on me. Email, PM and/or phone calls.

That said, my husband would have a different opinion. He would say trying to find John is an invasion of his privacy. Of course he's of the camp that rarely, if ever, posts on message boards. And he doubts that people are who they say they are.

It's funny, when we got married he said I was the more pessimistic one but I think over time, that's changed! I'm more trusting and want to believe the good in people. Of course an online friendship did go sour - very and I learned a lesson there. But that's beside the point.

What I'm trying to say is I can understand why some members feel we should leave John alone. Although it's odd he hasn't posted, I'm not sure what the best thing to do is here. You wouldn't want to embarrass him at work either.

I'll just let someone else make this call (literally, if need be!).

FROM ONE OF JOHN"S (Josephine96) last posting.... thought I'd update you on what's going on..

Shortly after 5:30pm ET.. while I was laying in bed resting.. I happened to start thinking of the accident. This led me to begin to cry uncontrollably for a 1/2 hour or so.

I attempted to call 3 people who told me if I ever need them.. I could call them.

1 of them.. My brother wasn't much help. I love him, his wife and my 3 nieces to death but him and his wife have all told me the same thing.. "It's been a year, move on". Although.. My bro's wife did give me some interesting advice. She asked me to see if Wal Mart has any like employee assistance thing where I could call and talk to somebody anonymously. I'm gonna check that tomorrow because I think we do.

Another friend of mine.. Left a message on her cell phone, then tried to call at home. Got no answer

Last 1: A friend I work with. Gave me her cell phone #, told her call anytime I wanted. But my PHONE HAS A LONG DISTANCE BLOCK ON IT SO I COULDN'T

Shortly before 9pm ET.. I also shed a few tears thinking about the things that occured right before I left Wal Mart that night.

He sounded like he was awfully depressed in his post over a month ago. I hope he has not tried to hurt himself. I feel so bad for him. If I did not live so far away from him, maybe I could of been there for him. You need a good friend that can be a shoulder to cry on. When you get that depressed, sometimes you just snap and totally withdraw from everything you once loved. I know because I suffer from severe depression sometimes that comes and goes. On my bad days, it is hard to even get out of bed sometimes. I hope he has gotten help for his depression and post tramatic stress. Counseling and medication would greatly help him. I guess we are going to continue to worry about him until we see him checking back in.

Even I have to say that this is unusual for him, and I know almost nothing about him.

Didn't he actually cry a year or two ago when he lost a posting contest? I remember him posting about it. People like that don't just abandon something that they feel that strongly about, be it S2k or any other thing.

Good points. This does seem highly unusual. I hope Josephine96 is OK!

I pray and hope that nothing has happened to him...or for that matter his mother...his mother resides in a nursing home.

Just one thing I would like to point out for those of you who are sort of hesitant to "search" for Josephine or feel it is a invasion of privacy. During different occassions here at S2K, we are offered different opportunities to send in contact info in case of an emergency(hurricane).
Since Ducky has this info on Josephine, he obviously trusted the people here and felt comfortable enough to send it. This being said, although I don't post often, I do read and it is highly unusual that Josephine has not posted. He is a very regular poster and it concerns me that he has strayed from habit. Based on the depressive tone of his last post, I feel we all should be concerned at this point. I pray he is okay. And praying that maybe he found the help he needed. :)

She tracked down which store he works at by reading his Wal-Mart journal. She didn't have his contact info.

If anyone is in the Kissimmiee/Orlando area on Storm2k, maybe you could just stop in the Wal-mart where he works. And casually go shopping in produce. I don't think anyone of us know what John looks like since he never posted a picture in the gallery. But, I am sure he will have a name tag on. Or if you see someone else working in produce or nearby, ask if they have a John working there in produce. And just say you were a friend of his and just wanted to say hi. He may not even work at Wal-mart anymore. With him being so depressed, he may have had to take a leave of absense. Because it is very difficult to function and concentrate on your job performance with that much on your mind like that.

Nope, no contact info. I checked our list and he never sent anything in. Everything I got was from what he posted publicly here. It wasn't hard. One post alone was all it really took to see at which store he works (worked?) and I just looked up the phone number on Yahoo.

No word yet.

As for it being an invasion of privacy or whatever, it's not the first time we've contacted or tried to contact someone who was a regular poster and then went absent for a while and it probably won't be the last. In all of the situations where I made the call, it was never a problem for the member being called.

That being said -- Gtalum, you have my word...if you don't post for a month or more, I'll remember your wishes and respect them.
