Postage Stamps Going up to 39 Cents

Dangit, can't they just have a mail account and bill you at the end of the month, like the telephone?

Uh, they do. It's called a postage meter.

It's extremely convenient, I use one in my business. You just load up an account, and the meter deducts from that account when you add postage to a letter or package.

Ya know, WHY don't they raise it to a EVEN number, like 40 cents? I HATE getting change back from buying stamps, heck why not go to 50 cents?

Actually, I read somewhere LONG, LONG ago that mailing a letter WAY back during the Pony Express days used to cost OVER 2$'s

No sense in even complaining at our Post Office.

The dude will give you the spill on how much gas that
the rural carriers use since gas went up, etc., etc., while
I take a nap behind the complaining person in front of me.

I pay what I can, online. I just bite the bullet for the
three or four other bills that I actually send via mail.

I pay most of my bills in cash, in person. I have a circuit I go through every month. I can go up one side of town and down the other side of town and hit the bank, furniture store, cable company, and landlords all in one trip that takes about a lunch hour. Then on the way home I go to the grocery store to pay the electric and phone bills and then stop at the insurance agent just down the street from my house. It's probably less gas than 6 stamps worth.
