I conclude that ethical people are doomed: as they limit their reproduction they limit their influence. Unethical people who don't limit their reproduction will overwhelm the ethical people, dooming everything.

It reminds me of the Shaker Movement of the 1770's. They believed in celibacy, even in marriage. This took it's toll on thier numbers, and they dwindled to extinction!

No matter how you cut it we're all doomed!

Point being, this Ukrainian family has its ethics well in hand; much more so than many "two-point-seven kids and a dog" post-modern families can say.

Except that the parents clearly have no concept of social responsibility. You can be sure the kids won't, either.

That is your take on it. Many do not agree with you. Why don't you follow them and get back with us when the kids are grown. I think you are wrong.

I don't think people should have 17 children either, but I certainly would not be so assuming and condemning without all the facts in front of me.

From what I have read I am impressed. They have 17 children and manage to take care of them just fine. Some people can't take care of one or two without help.
