Which Gulf Hurricane since 1995 was the worst

#1 Postby Jim Cantore » Fri Dec 16, 2005 12:15 pm

I'm leaving Katrina out because she'd win with all the votes

Vote on what you saw on TV or from knowlage and research or for ones effected vote from personal experence theres no right or wrong answer

well ok maybe a few may be even pointless to have in the poll but I put them for the people who went through them

I'd agree with that

I saw alot of nasty damage and video out of Wilma

I'd put Charley Rita and Ivan close behind it

I am gonna vote Ivan...because of the amount of damage that it did, of course Charley is up there too, but I don't like considering the West Coast of Florida as the Gulf Coast...even though most institutions do...

I said Ivan... Wilma is 2nd(the damage on the SE FL coast tops Ivan), but that's not on the Gulf. Charley was really small which is the only thing really that keeps it from being the worst.

I voted for Ivan, although I almost voted for Wilma. I didn't vote for Rita because a good part of the damage it causedwas preexisting damage from Katrina that was exacerbated by Rita, although there was a lot of new damage. Ivan simply caused more damage.

I voted Wilma, though I did think about Charley and Ivan. Of course Katrina would get my vote if she weren't off limits.

I think he's referring to the water that flooded parts of New Orleans again.

Wilma counts as an east coast hurricane.

All of the FL Peninsula is included as a part of the EC

Well then removing those 2 really makes Ivan a no-brainer almost...

But thats not where Rita did hir dirtiest work....check Holly Beach/LakeCharles/Cameron for that.

As for the worst, its Rita. Isnt she the third costliest ever?

After Katrina, Ivan is the one that strikes me the most when talking about Gulf coast storm since 1995. Those images from Gulf Shores were just overwhelming to say the least.

and Katrina added inslut to injury at Gulfshores, as it produced a similar storm tide less than a year after Ivan devastated Gulfshores

Rita wiped Cameron and other cities off the map-
That's IMO the worst after Katrina

Rita the worst for the Gulf...

For me personally Wilma was the most intense I have experienced...
winds came right off Tampa Bay...last year with Jeanne and Frances
the winds came off the GOM but blew into the Bay so I did not
get direct unimpeded winds...but with Wilma the wind came
right off the Bay into Northeast St. Petersburg...very strong...
so Wilma was the strongest for me...

Wilma and Charley are there because they hit from the gulf side

Plus without them Ivan would have an even easier win
