That was very nice what Lydia said there at the reunion show! :)

She may not have the million but she had a winning personality throughout most of the series and you gotta give her credit for that! :)

That's heartwarming about Margaret and Brian going to do some relief work in Guatemala in the wake of landslides.

Gary, gotta watch out for those news/sports journalists (Danni)! :)

So when does Survivor: Panama Exile Island start? I missed the date but caught some footage highlights in the advertisement. :)

Survivor: Panama is the next season... new twist:

Exile Island. A lonely desolate island. Tribemembers will be sent there individually for days at a time... there may be a key on this island that could lead to winning the game.

:slime:

Wow, I have to go back thru several pages to read all of your posts from just 3 hours ago! LOL

Congrats Danni! Although I wanted Rafe to win, it was nice to see someone win who played a good, honest for the most part, game. She didn't loaf around, had a good attitude, tried her best at challenges.

At the last challenge my family and I couldn't help but wonder if they had wished Lydia was still in it. Because she couldn't have straddled that pole, the teeter-totter platform after letting go of the last rope. Then it would have been down to two. I thought Rafe was going to cry when he took himself out of it, by just touching the pole. Question - both Danni and Stephanie took their hats off, so didn't they in a sense touch the pole when they positioned their hats?

The reunion was great. Ole Judd let Steph have it. You lied to my wife, my wife (I can still hear his accent in my head). Love it when Jeff points out he DID lie in this game.....LOL Almost didn't recognize Brandon, he has short hair now! Funny to see Jamie and Bobby Jon sitting right next to eachother. I still say Bobby Jon played this Survivor Guatemala, the best. He didn't make to the final four but he was on the jury. He was my favorite about half way thru. But then I had to switch up to Rafe.

All in all I'm happy with how it turned out I guess. Danni is quite likeable but Rafe would have been a perfect win.

And now to get catty.....a question for the women. Do you think Danni had her lips enlarged? The women all had makeup on and their hair professionally done probably. To see her wearing lipstick was okay but she just kept licking her teeth which of course made you think, were her lips this big in Guatamala?

I'll be nice now! LOL

  :uarrow: Her lips did look pretty big! He he!

I guess Im glad Danni won but I think Rafe would have deserved it better.......Danni did kinda skate by in the show........oh well......I knew it was gona be a woman this season...........cause last season was Tom..........every season they rotate man .......woman......i wonder how that gets pulled off every season? ??? :?:

Was a good show though......and next season should be interesting!!! :D

I loved that question by Judd b/c I had no idea where he was going with it! You could tell by Danni's reaction, she was clueless as well so when she got the joke, it was a clever way to point how she did skate thru the competition. Or sneak in under the radar, undetected.

I didn't predict she'd win. Early on, I thought Gary had a good shot. And of course Steph. Bobby Jon too. But not Danni. I really thought she'd lose steam, b/c she was so darn thin. How DID she keep going everyday? Clearly she was about 100 lbs!!!

Well, for all my wonderful advice, ~I~ forgot to record the mornings news show. LOL! So if anyone caught it, report back and let us know if we missed a Survivor moment!

The next Survivor looks very interesting. The tiny island they'll all be exiled to, one by one, will certainly be a challenge. I'm glad they're shaking it up a bit, just like they did when they brought in Steph and Bobby Jon.

My final TV Guide Watercooler Survivor Gautemala critique....

http://www.tvguide.com/TV/Watercooler/

Survivor: Guatemala---The Maya Empire
Danni won, yay! She made the right decision by taking Stephenie to the final two instead of Rafe. I think it would have been a much closer vote if she had chosen to go the other way. Plus, she looks amazing now that she's not all emaciated. In honor of the sports girl let's go over some stats:
- 22 minutes: How late the show was in starting tonight, and how late it ran past 11 pm.
- 3: The amount of times you can air one commercial during one normal length break. Seriously they aired the Pontiac Torrent ad so many times I could recite it, but when they aired it back to back and then again after another commercial it was really too much.
- 1 million: the amount of money Danni will be taking home pre-taxes because she starved herself for 39 days and tried not to stab too many people in the back along the way.
- 2: The amount of times that Stephenie and Bobby Jon got to play Survivor.
- 1: The amount of votes that Stephenie got during the final tribal council. Only ever-loyal Rafe voted for her.
- 1: Also the number of times that Stephenie, Danni and Lydia ruined a ancient sacrifice by eating the chicken that was an offering to the gods.
- 37: The numbers of days that Stephenie claimed not to have eaten in when she was trying to justify eating the sacrificial chicken.
- 2: The real amount of days since Steph had scarfed down food with Cindy on her reward. So glad that Judd made the comment about how much she had eaten while she was out there.
- High 5s: There was a obvious hand slap between jury members Bobby Jon and Jamie during tribal council when it was brought up that Stephenie had ticked a few people off. Did that sway Danni's decision?

All in all it was a pretty anti-climactic season, only Judd and his "brutal honesty" really livened things up. People lied, people cheated and at the end of the day someone went home a million dollars richer. No big shocking revelations at the reunion, though it was nice to see Jamie and Bobby Jon as pals instead of screaming at each other. Gary reluctantly fessed up to his pro-football past. And Jeff teased easy target Brian about his early ouster. Loved Judd's comment that people mostly recognize him as the "big fat dude from Survivor." Can't wait for next season, that exile island looks like a cool new twist, and so glad that Jeff will be back. I really can't imagine this show without the dimpled host saying, "the tribe has spoken." — Angel Cohn

Well I was happy to see Dani win. :D Steph would have been good too, but I knew she wouldn't have a chance with the jury. Good call on Danis part to take her. I really thought Steph would have won that challenge, as head strong as she is, but she was just too short. lol. Her short little legs couldn't keep up. Again she comes in second, either way though I don't think she would have won, if she would have won the challenge and took Rafe I think they would have given it to Rafe, so either way she would not have got it.

About Danis lips, I think those are just her lips, I noticed during the episodes she had a sorta shadow over her upper lip, I think that was because they were big enough to cause a shadow there. I have a friend who has the same thing going on, with the shadow, thats why I noticed throughout the season. She was rubbing her teeth with her tounge alot though, so who knows.

I fell asleep 10 minutes before the reunion was over. :grrr: I can't believe it, I should have never laid down. So I missed the whole preview for next season. :grrr: I guess I will go to the site and they probably have it there. I could just smack myself for that. But the twist you guys are talking about sounds very interesting, that is a big one. Can't wait to watch another season. :D

Wow! Sounds juicy. :slime:
Thanks Brent. :D
I wonder if they got that whole idea from when Steph was stuck alone after all her tribe mates were voted out season before last. What a great twist, banishment will be hard, but also may give you an edge the other won't have. He he he, I love it!

Survivor's Sports Fan Wins the Big One!
by Angel Cohn

After making it through 39 days in the Guatemalan jungle and outwitting, outplaying and outlasting her 17 other competitors, on Sunday night Danni Boatwright was crowned the champion of Survivor: Guatemala. The 30-year-old Kansas City sports-radio announcer won by a landslide over Stephenie, who only received one out of the seven votes cast. TVGuide.com spoke to Danni the day after her win to find out how she managed to make it through without lying too much — and why she didn't bust former NFL player Gary Hogeboom for his deceptive tale.

TVGuide.com: Congratulations!
Danni Boatwright: Thank you so much.

TVGuide.com: Has it sunk in yet?
Danni: Not yet. I got my check, and it's just weird. I don't think it's going to sink in until I get home.

TVGuide.com: What was it like waiting to find out if you or Steph won?
Danni: That's the hardest part, just spending that whole time waiting. You think you know, but you get blindsided so much in the game that you're not sure. I just didn't want to get my hopes up until it was all done.

TVGuide.com: Watching the season unfold on TV, were you worried they weren't going to vote for you?
Danni: When I got finished with the game, I pretty much knew I had it because I didn't really make anybody mad. I didn't even say anything about anyone. I thought Judd might be mad because I manipulated the situation to get him out of there.

TVGuide.com: He was more mad at Stephenie.
Danni: She should have talked to him about it. But she didn't.

TVGuide.com: Was Judd's vote the one you were most surprised to get?
Danni: No, no, I wasn't surprised, because I knew Steph had really made him mad. Cindy was so in awe of Stephenie, I thought she might have voted for her. I didn't really know where Cindy stood.

TVGuide.com: Rafe was upset because you didn't take him to the final two. Are you friends now?
Danni: Oh yeah, he came out to Kansas City and we went to a football game. We talk every day. We're good friends. He even said, "Danni, you made the right move, because you for sure would have beaten Steph. I should have won the immunity." Rafe is such a classy guy and he's not a sore loser. We saw some sore losers, and he's not one of them. He's an amazing person.

TVGuide.com: Besides Rafe, is there anyone you're going to stay close to?
Danni: Stephenie and I actually got really close. Brandon — the farm boy from Kansas — and I talk all the time; he's like a little brother. Brooke and I are close, and Margaret. That was probably the closest bunch for me.

TVGuide.com: What about Gary?
Danni: Oh, gosh! Gary's like the best father and best husband. We had some talks out there. We could just walk and talk and have fun. I dropped the whole "Gary Hogeboom, quarterback" thing because we were in an alliance. Also, I saw him throw, and he wasn't very good. I thought, "Maybe he isn't the guy I've seen in pictures."

TVGuide.com: Did you ever think you should have tried to get him out earlier because he was lying?
Danni: No. I may have pushed it if we didn't have a switch in tribes, but we became buddies and I just let it go. It all shows that you almost have to lie. He was the most wonderful person I've ever met and he started the game off with a lie. A big lie.

TVGuide.com: You played the game pretty admirably.
Danni: I did, but I was put in a situation where it was easier for me to do that because I didn't have an alliance to eventually go back on. If it had stayed where it was — Bobby Jon, Brandon, Gary and myself — we would have had to turn on each other. We did that in Yaxha, when we had to vote off Amy and Brian, but we were honest with them about it. We really didn't want to hurt somebody's feelings, and they respected us for that.

TVGuide.com: Was voting people out the toughest part of this game?
Danni: It depends on who it was. [Laughs] When Brandon got voted off, of course, I didn't vote for him, but when we had to vote off Amy and Brian, I did have to make that decision. That was tough, because we really got close and they were awesome people and players. Judd and Jamie, just by the way they talked about our tribe — all confident and cocky — it was fun to watch them get voted off. I was like, "Ha, where's that strong alliance now?" I loved watching the show because I didn't see all that stuff [during the actual game]. When we went fishing, they said they were going to knock us off one by one and stuff, so it's cool to see one of the Yaxha people win the whole thing.

TVGuide.com: I was a little worried about you because you started to look very, very thin.
Danni: It's so funny, because people say to me or say over the Internet, "Oh, she's anorexic," but I hadn't eaten for a really long time and I'm just thin. I was disgustingly skinny. Watching last night, I was like, "holy cow!"

TVGuide.com: That may have helped you on the balance challenge.
Danni: I grew up doing gymnastics, which helped me with that. But [being thin] did help with the heat, because I had really low body fat.

TVGuide.com: Watching the finale, I was surprised to see how you are now.
Danni: Yeah, I've gained 30 pounds — I needed to. I also have a very high metabolism, so it doesn't take long to drop weight, but gosh, it was gross. I was like 100 pounds coming out of the game, and I'm 5' 10"!

TVGuide.com: I was hoping someone would take you on one of the rewards, because you needed to eat.
Danni: [Laughs] My poor mom — when I got off the plane, she knew I went far because my legs were so tiny. And I lost my butt completely.

TVGuide.com: I hope you got it back.
Danni: Oh, yeah. And then some.

TVGuide.com: You said you wanted to spend the money on your family. Do you have specific things in mind?
Danni: Yeah, sometime I'm going to sit down with my mom, because everyone in the family has a different need and I need to figure out exactly what I'm going to do.

TVGuide.com: Well, you do have a lot of siblings!
Danni: Yes, I have a ton. I went in there knowing that was something I wanted to do, even before I won. I thought, "This could be a huge blessing." In the final immunity challenge, I'm thinking, "I've got so [many family members] with financial needs who could use this, and I can't let them down."

TVGuide.com: What do you hope to do next?
Danni: Sports are definitely my passion. I grew up with all those brothers, and it's just what I've known my whole life and I love it. I probably have to be a little bit more well rounded, but I'm not. But I want to go back and do sports radio. Before Survivor, I was getting into a little more TV, as far as sports go, so I want to maybe go down that avenue.

TVGuide.com: Are we going to see you on the NFL sidelines someday?
Danni: Actually, college basketball's my favorite. It's just fun to be down in the action. While Survivor was on, I was working with one of the stations back home where a friend of mine is the sports director, and I got to take a camera and videotape the high-school football games. I loved it! I almost got tackled a few times, but it was so much fun to be down there in the action, then come back and make your highlight tapes and stuff. I want to do that for sure.
