Fight with evacuee students in Houston High School

#1 Postby vbhoutex » Wed Dec 07, 2005 6:09 pm

This is a link to the story. We have had several problems like this in Houston since the evacuees arrived. I have no idea what the real problem is here. I know I can not imagine going through what those kids have gone through and just easily assimilating into a whole new school, but that doesn't excuse bad behavior on either side of this situation.

This does not surprise me in the least. I have seen reports of this type behavior from New Orleans schools in the media for a very long time. It is their culture. Good luck with all of the New Orleans thugs and criminals.....MGC

Yep! New Orleans schools were bad news to begin with.

If I remember correctly we have 33,000 NO students here now. That is spread throughout the Houston area, but this is not the first incident. From your posts I am beginning to think the problem is them. There in fact is an FBI report that warned that the NO students would bring an us vs them mentality into the schools and that it could be a problem, which it obviously is becoming.

Nothing like that surprises me anymore.

In early September, a group of students from New Orleans had a fight with some Dallas students at a major High School.

I know the New Orleans students have been through a lot (and going through a lot), but wouldn't you think they'd show a little gratitude for everyone taking them into their neighborhoods and schools with welcoming arms? I dunno...apparently that's expecting too much.

Abbott said there have been at least 12 fights involving Katrina evacuees since they started attending HISD schools.
