Wow. You work at Wal-mart and are off on a Saturday??? We get Saturdays at work by request only. Then, it is still no guarantee. I am lucky if I get 1 Saturday off every 3 months. Otherwise it is 9 hour shifts every single Saturday. Now, we can't have any Saturdays off at all for any reason at all until January. So, it is going to be 10-hour shifts every Saturday for the next 6 weeks.

I got 1 more gift today from coworkers. 1 of our bakery associates bought a carvel cake for me.. then wrote "Happy birthday" on it..

It was good.. and considering I kinda was depressed today. It became my comfort food..

I thought I'd give you a rundown on what happened here today on "Blitz Day" AKA Black Friday

My Wal Mart: Arguably the 2 best deals were the $378 laptop comp. or a 23 inch TV for $88. Sales appeared to be disappointing at my store today. Some say because of a lack of merchandise, others argue that it was poorly planned. As of 6pm.. my store had made close to a 1/2 million $ today.. compared to last year when they made almost $800K.

817: Better known around here as the 192 store. Kissimmee police were called to the store 2x during the overnight due to unruly lines as customers waited for 5am blitz and the laptops. Word even has it that if KPD would have had a 3rd time being called out for ruckus they threatened to close the store.

5420: New store that just opened earlier this year. They lost power for 2 hours.

and finally the story that made national headlines. Maybe you heard, but at an Orlando Wal Mart. Fights and chaos broke out over the laptops. Reports even stated the laptops were being thrown into the air and it was 1st come, 1st serve.

Other than that.. I like working on Blitz day. it's very busy and I really get into the Christmas spirit pretty easy.

BTW: Monday.. I'm gonna do my X-Mas shopping.

Oh now that WOULD have caused a ruckus...

:roflmao:

I saw on the Atlanta news where they had the same deals on Laptops at a Wal-Mart up there... 50 of them, and it was mass chaos.

Sales at our SuperWallyWorld were VERY poor compared to last year too...........this years sales, $770K, compared to last years $1.4 million, Seriously, our GOOD friend who works there said sales were WAY down and a TON of merchandise left OVER. She said there was a LOT of people just no buyers  I believe almost ALL of the stores are going to show a HUGE drop in sales this year, let's face it, heating prices, gas prices, record home prices, record mortage payments, the cost of living PERIOD is at an all time high and wages have NOT kept up with inflation.

LOL Thank you Arkess..

I'm even singing it to myself every night now while I'm in produce lol..

I'll also be performing it on Thursday during my stores' X-mas party..

The one everyone gets a kick out of is.. "6 Csm's a stressin"

My store managers fave is the refrain "5 LAYAWAY ORDERS!"

Ok guys.. This is what went down today..

Shortly after 3pm ET.. A girl I work with was sitting outside on her break, and my boss also happened to be sitting out there..

Anyway.. My boss and her start talking.. Both of them allegedly raving about me left and right claiming how good I am of an associate and all that..

Here's the point of the story.. when the girl comes back in, she finds me and says "I need to talk to you".. and tells me.. "I had a talk with your boss and he said starting next Sunday your hours go from 10A-7p instead of 1p-10p" She told my boss about how I have trouble getting rides home on Sunday nights because the buses stop running earlier on Sundays..

Anyway.. I am happy but at the same time I'm a little po'd lol. Not because she cares. But because she didn't even tell me she was gonna talk to my boss. Allegedly it just "happened to come up in the convo when we were talking about you" {words my boss said}"

Is this just a case of a young lady or associate or whatever you wanna describe her as lol who cares about me and my potential safety, or is this a nosy associate sticking her nose in where it doesn't belong lol..

You guys tell me..

Things do pop up in conversations, especially since they were talking about work. You didn't swear her to secrecy about the bus problems so you shouldn't be upset. I think what she did was nice and was trying to help you. I don't know how you can see it any other way.

You're right Cajun..

I just don't like when people stick their noses in my business.. Though she did it out of care and love this time..

I even told her.. I said "Normally, I'd start barking at you for jumping into my business lol.. but this time.. I'm gonna thank you for it.."

So starting 12/11.. I work 10-7 on Sundays instead of 1-10. I work 1-10 my regular Tues. Wed. Fri. and Sat. still

Thank God I had to take this call today., It made me laugh,,

Around 3pm ET.. I happened to be walking past the fitting room, a friend of mine working the phones happened to say "John, there's a call for produce, wanna take it..?"

so I did..

This lady insists to ask me if I have any sweet potatoes, then asks me why we have them priced so high {88 cents a lb.} then she insists to ask me if I can lower the price for her, and how many sweet potatoes would equal 2 pounds..

This lady then insists to ask me why we're being made to say "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas lol..

If I hadn't had this call today.. I probably would have killed somebody because my day was at times a day from hell lol..

She just kept asking me question after question and it began to almost make me laugh lol..
