If there was any one season you could live through...

#1 Postby Hurricanehink » Fri Nov 25, 2005 10:47 am

If you could repeat any season in history, with all of the modern technology, what would it be? Imagine what would happen today if the storms occurred.

I personally couldn't pick just one, so pick the top 3. They can be from any time in Atlantic history, from 1492 to the present.

1) 1893 season- 4 hurricanes on one day, New York City direct hurricane hit, Sea Islands Hurricane, and Chenier Caminanda Hurricane.
2) 1908 season- Mostly so I could see the March hurricane.
3) 1950- 8 major hurricanes, Dog (185 mph winds in open Atlantic), Easy (crazy track), and King (Miami landfaller).

Well...none I'd live through..so how about a couple I would NOT
want to live through: (Sorry to take the anti-thesis to the topic of the thread  )

NOT want to live through years:

1. 1848- EVIL year...2 major hurricanes struck Tampa Bay within
a month of each other
2. 1921- Category 3 strikes near Tarpon Springs and creates deadly
surge up Tampa Bay

Seasons I would want to go thru the most:
1. The 1993, just because a Cat 3 passed right off my coast: http://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/at1993.asp
2. 1983 because of the few TC's we had: http://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/at1983.asp
3. 1982 see above reason :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: http://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/at1982.asp

I mean what ones would you like to see to observe the storms. If the damage and destruction didn't occur, what storms would you want to see with modern satellite and recon information?

Whichever season least affected the MS Gulf Coast. About another 25-30 of those and we might be back.

For those I'd NOT like to see repeated...
'96 Marilyn and Luis - bad damage here
'98 Georges and Mitch - Georges also bad damage here, Mitch - lost friends in that one

To echo what the last few people have said, I am living through it right now. This has been the most amazing season of all time.

I remember getting really SCARED when I woke up to THE
STRONGEST HURRICANE EVER RECORDED WILMA
with a projected path into South Florida...had it stayed cat 4/5 into
florida the effects would have been really bad even hundreds of
miles away from center...

Waking up to CAT 5 wilma was the one time this year I remember
PRAYING that it stayed away...
Normally I hope they stay away but with Wilma I actually PRAYED
it stayed away....
