Ever heard of Wilson's Creek? It's near Boone and Blowing Rock, NC. Anyway, after the remnants of a hurricane passed over, the entire valley flooded, washing away everything. They left it a park land afterwards, you can still see the foundation of the mill. This was in the early 1900's.

Alot of areas were "UNFAVORABLE" through the course of this Hurricane Season and many formed none the less....It wouldn't surprise me if we saw a major affecting the US Thanksgiving week.

i have family that lives in Zionville, TN right outside of Boone/Banner Elk and they have taken us hiking down in the wilson's creek gorge area. Some of the most beautiful scenery in the southern appalachians in my opinion

I could not agree with you more.I can't believe all the hype this thing is recieving.There's a very little chance of this becoming a major hurricane and a even lower chance of this impacting the U.S.This looks to be a problem for areas in the Carib and possibily Central America later down the road.I don't see this having any impact on Florida.

The big climatology 8-ball says "It is not that unlikely."

Being "a problem for areas in the Caribbean" is practically a given since it's in the freakin' Caribbean, right? As for Central America, I'm thinking climatology says Cuba and possibly Florida is more likely than Central America, but I haven't run any data sets so I won't say I'm sure of that.

Talk to the people in the Grenedines - *hype* about a storm applies to more than just the shores of the US and a *problem for areas in the Caribbean* matters.

We just had a meeting (Orlando) for the future development of the Hoffner Avenue Corridor. Okay, so the county people were late due to... traffic. The room wasn't set up and was WAY too small. Instead of turning away the overflow, the PLANNERS hosting the meeting did exactly the same as they're doing to the county: they just stuffed them in on top of those already there. Fire Marshall would've had kittens.

Found out that for now at least, they aren't taking out homes along the corridor. They DID rezone us for GREATER DENSITY, though. (sigh) :roll:

Also, the south side of Hoffner will be rezoned to Industrial. Let me guess: there go our property values (?).

before 2004 we went a few yrs without a major hurricane strike.its just nature catching up for loss time
