Seriously, if they told you a cat 7 was coming your way, you would board your windows up? Personally, I would be too busy getting a u-haul to load the contents of the house and get out of dodge. I don't think shutters are going to save a house for a cat 7.

What is your answer? Remember now this is fiction so let your imaginations soar.

Was I right? I should try my hand at writing a disaster script. I don't understand why they used a fighter plane for data and never mentioned the hurricane hunter planes. Did I miss something? Did they say in the movie that a plane had never been inside a cat 5 storm? I don't ask for a lot of logic in my disaster movies but this is pretty rediculous.

It was explained by the pilot in the first half that "due to the extreme wind speeds, a typical Hurricane Hunter plane couldn't handle the job... whay you need is a plane fast enough to handle the winds".. uh huh, use an SR-71 Blackbird for storm penetration... This does nothing for the dumbing down of the general public with regard to storms...

I too fell aslepp during last night's conclusion, but did pop in a DVD-R to record it, so I'll watch it (and laugh) later.

Was sooo bad was hard to watch. Even worse then Clive Cusslers last Dirt Pitt novel were the 1st storm of the season is given a G name by a weatherman, and travels in a perfect straight line as a cat 5 hitting the east coast of DR but not effecting PR. After some thought the movie was worse.

I flipped to it by accident last night, and watched about 3 minutes. OMG it was awful. You guys aren't exagerating. That was all I could stand was those 3 minutes. Special effects were horrible. Wind was blowing hard it seemed(but only in certain areas) and then rain was coming straight down. Come on guys, I know they could have done a little better than that. It was awful, just awful.

I'll have the fast nationals in less than 30 minutes...

It should have come in 2nd(albeit a DISTANT second) both hours because NBC had stupid junk on too. The networks just seem to have surrendered to ABC.

At 9 p.m., "Desperate Housewives" scored one of its biggest audiences of the season with a 16.1/23. Part two of CBS' disaster movie "Category 7" drew an 8.9/13, down a bit from last week's part one. NBC got a 5.2/7 from its "Saturday Night Live in the '80s" retrospective. FOX averaged 5.0/7 with "Family Guy" and "American Dad" (which beat NBC in total viewers), and The WB ended its night with a "Supernatural" repeat.

ABC held the lead at 10 p.m. with "Grey's Anatomy," 13.1/21. "Category 7" finished with an 8.4/13, and NBC's "SNL" documentary came in at 5.4/9.

Description of Part 1 of the mini from the TableTalk message boards at salon.com that's just too good not to share here:

http://tabletalk.salon.com/webx?14@233. ... 5949f/1486

"It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV:

1. In the first 15 minutes, a twister destroys the Eiffel Tower and the carnival going on beneath it, kills two soccer thugs and a mime - a mime! a mime death! Who isn't down with that? - and carries a cackling huge clown head through the streets of Paris to smash through the window of a conference center, crushing the Important US Weather Guy who is desperately trying to persuade the French that bad weather is coming.

He isn't dead, just scraped up, but watching a bunch of confused Frenchmen rescuing an American from beneath a clown face of doom is comedy gold.

<snip to keep the quoting to a minimum>

8. Randy Quaid and Shannon Daugherty, brilliant scientists, are about to be crushed by the arm of the Statue of Liberty. Go, Liberty Arm! "

Oops, was gonna slide this down to OT, since I hijacked it but now I wanna leave part of it here for Astro_man's sake so he might get an answer concerning the movie (the original topic).

I'll split out the conversation about the DVD recorder and send it to OT.
