Some convection has fired up in the Western GOM.

According to the infrared loop this area has expanded and grown
larger than what is shown in the infrared I posted in the original
post of this thread.

Shear is kicking the storm tops rapidly NE. Nothing to worry about.

There is a tropical wave in the southern Gulf and there is also an upper level trough over Texas and northern Mexico. The two may be interacting with each other. Winds at 200mb are running 100+ knots. Lots of shear. 0z NAM is also showing a weak shear zone at 500mb over the system.

There's only been one storm forming in the Gulf of Mexico in recorded history in November; Tropical Storm Inga, and considering it was the remnants of Hattie and Simone, it further proves that November GOM storms simply don't happen.

Upper level winds are westerly so guess were this thing is going, yep the state that's shaped like a boot.

Hicksta its Florida upper level westerlies would push it E or NE.
