It's gonna be a BUST

I'm afraid this upcoming winter is going to be a HUGE BUST-O-RAMA NORMALLY we should have had SNOW by this time of year, we did, just a flurry and that was 9 October and now, it's SUMMER like conditions with no moisture on the HORIZON at ALL........Ah well, I would LOVE to have the 132" we had LAST year but it AIN'T in the cards this year!

It supposed to be in the mid to upper 80's here in S FL.We should get 1 week of cool weather this winter.I run the air 11 out of 12 months here.

AZ, I fear you are right about the dry winter. I'm still trying to figure out how to go with the temperatures however. My son feels that it's going to be cold and dry but I'm not sure.

HECK NO! I'm ALWAYS complaining about the weather, don't we ALL I mean, it's ONE thing in this sad world that we CANNOT change......so YES, anything that I can't do ANYTHING about, you BET I complain

NA.....it's just that we depend SO heavily on our snowpack STATEWIDE that if we have a bad winter (bad in NO SNOW) that we are in DEEP DOO DOO come spring and summer, say like, "DRINKING WATER!"

Hi all,its exactly the same here in the U.K,we are going to come very close to having our warmest ever Autumn ever unless November gets real cold over the next 3 weeks,which is possible.

Meanwhile Greenland has become amazingly cold,infact I believe there was a new record set recently up there for cold and a few GFS runs has had temps of -38C at 850hpa recently under a strong greenland high.

It looks like the east will burn this winter. There are no signs of any cooling trends beginning. I give up on a cold winter if nothing changes in the models by tomorrow. I mean its November 6th here in northcentral new jersey and we are in the low 70's. We should be in the mid 50's. The models just keep showing warm air that doesn't want to go away. This is crazy if we are in a ridge for the winter too. This would set records for longest ridge ever for the east. We were in a ridge since Mid May and it hasn't stopped except for a brief trough at the end of October. If this warmth continues, I expect the warmest winter for the east, possibly the driest winter as well. 100's of record highs this winter are possible. All the mets and forecasters who predicited a cold and snowy winter for the east are very wrong. The made their predicitons too early and now that everything has changes, it will be a warm winter for the east. It could be the coldest winter in the northwest and west this year. Sorry snow lovers but this winter may be horrible in the east. It could be worse than 98-99 and 01-02. Maybe a 75-80 degree temperature in NYC for late February.

Well, if I were still in Watertown, NY I would be loving these warmer temps right now the same way that I loved them in '01. Warmer temps=warmer lakes=more LES (generally, there are some exceptions as there has to be cold air to move across the lakes!). 2001 was one of the best winters I ever had up there...

Well the winter isnt a bust here. currently snowing, a chillly 32 degrees, low of 29 degress, with snow on the way! yay ! with a snow pack of 63 cm or about 2 feet. the west coast is really taking it to east right now!! we will see if u guys can play catch up with us. theresnto really any snow to speak of in the CONUS.

Mt. Baker's base at Pan Dome is now at 89", a very good start to the season indeed. Paradise Mt. Rainier has many feet of snow as well although I don't know the exact amount. They have more snow there now than they did in January of last year.

Big white is opening early this year because of a great snowpack, its snowign here now!

We broke a record set back in 1913 up here yesterday, 73° feels more like late summer than autumn. Flowers that have gone dormant are now springing back to life, wildflowers in the forests are blooming again. With Global Warming kicking our butts this year looks like this will be the norm from now on. I was wearing SHORTS with a tshirt last evening when I got home from work.....AND the stupid LAWN needs mowing agian. AH WELL...there ain't one thing I can do about it, guess I'll put my winter stuff away and break ALL the summer clothes back out, looking at the long range, this IS the way it's going to remain for the duration!

Not being funny but at least the NE USA has had a fair few colder then average winters recently at the expense of the West and Europe.

Anyway first real decently long cold intrusion happening soon here,this weekend,should lower the temps which are still about 2.5C above the norm.
