"WHAT?!?!?!?!?"   DANG.....you'll be down to $1.99 SOON  Of course, it's all relative I guess, housing prices, gas prices vs. wages!

Now here in Pinetop, wages have NOT kept up housing prices, medium housing prices are NOW $280,000, rent on the AVERAGE, for a one bedroom where YOU pay the utilities PLUS ALL the deposits, $700 a month, a studio apt. goes for $550 a month AND.....the HIGHEST paying jobs are McDonalds and Burger King $5.25 an hour, not really, Walmarts the highest paying employer at $7.00 hour..........no WONDER food stamp and welfare claims are at an ALL time high

No, you just fail to understand basic economics. :)

I have modified my driving quantity and style so that I spend very little on gas despite the increased prices.

The basic economics of it is that they have alot more of my money and didn't do that much to get it ..Just raised the price...I think almost everyone has already modified their driving...Why just say modify the way you live? Why are we letting the oil company's dictate the way we do things...I have yet to see a real justification of the price hike...And the extra BILLIONS they made in 1 qtr just proves there is a real problem... 8-)

It's a "problem" that oil companies are turnign a profit?

As I mentioned somewhere way up above, their margin isn't much different than it's ever been. The oil companies get about $0.10 profit for every dollar they spend. I personally wouldn't bother being in business if my margin were that thin. I have to at least double my money to make it worthwhile to me. You are asking for the oil companies to earn less money per dollar they spend. It's not going to happen. Further, if you try to regulate prices, you'll end up with massive gas supply shortages ala the 1970's as the oil companies shift more of their inventory to sell in other countries where they turn a bigger profit.

FWIW, I modify my driving quantity and style mostly because I hate giving money to terrorists. Every time you fill your car you send some money to terrorists. I want to do that just as little as possible, thank you very much.

It's dropping, but much more slowly than gasoline. This i because winter heating fuel is basically diesel fuel, which pushes demand for the stuff way up. Also, in the north they have to switch forumlas to "winter diesel", which doesn't gel in freezing temperatures, so in the meantime there is slightly less supply, making the situation worse. By March it really starts to drop. :)

That is great about the March deal. Something to look forward to anyway. My sister who lives north of Atlanta told me they are raising their natural gas rates 70%. That is just ridiculous. How are those people going to afford to heat their homes?
