I haven't had cable (Time Warner) since Hurricane Rita hit here, since September 23rd to be exact. Going on 6 weeks now. My parents don't have cable or a phone either. Electricity took a while as well.

There's people in Mississippi who still don't have cable and haven't since Katrina.

I don't know what the problem with Comcast is. It took FOREVER to have it back after Charley.

I have a dish and live too far in the boondocks to get DSL or cable so I wasn't affected by it, but I remember many people talking about it and them taking a very, very long time to get it back.

Let's see - Katrina did this to me:

Electricity - just over 2 weeks
Water - just over 3 weeks
Cable - 6 weeks
Telephone - 7 weeks

So two weeks isn't terribly bad. Unless, of course, you are the one
without cable.

You'd be amazed at how much electricity a wheel-runnin' gerbil on a mission can generate.
