There's no way to link J. Crew to anything in those videos. This is typical PETA. They find disgusting behavior, and try to link it to some corporation that isn't involved. They're extortionists and terrorists.

Can you elaborate more? How can saving an animal by showing you the inhumane treatment they get be considered a terrorist group? I know there are some PETA stuff that is "out there" but terrorist?

As far as PETA goes, they do go to extremes. But their basic message is important - animals in this country do suffer. Terribly. Do they twist this message to get it across - probably. I don't know for certain, I can't even bring myself to open that link or go to PETA's website(s).

What I do know is it's going to take many years to change people's way of thinking in this country.....

A. Most US citizens think it is entertaining to see caged animals at the zoo. Pacing back and forth in their tiny cages (tigers for example).

B. Most US citizens think it is entertaining to buy tickets to the circus and watch elephants, trained to wear a tutu and perch itself on a tiny stool. Then be marched off stage to be chained up 20 hours a day, and hit with steel sticks with sharp points, made to learn their routines.

C. Most US citizens who eat meat, think it's perfectly acceptable to eat Veal. Baby cows are taken from their mothers, chained or tied up in tiny stalls, never, ever seeing daylight. Forced to eat a diet that will keep their meat soft so when it's cooked, it falls off the bones. These calves have absolutely no exisitence after leaving the womb other than to be used for this purpose.

D. Cows are made to eat meat, not allowed to graze on grass and breath fresh air. Roaming about a farm. Some are kept in tight quarters, used again for only mass production.

I could go on, but when most people think my A-D points are okay to continue, what's the harm, I get my steak on my plate don't I?, kinda of attitude, well I can see why PETA might consider going to extremes to get their message out.

I just merely ask people these questions - do you find it in that animal's best interest to see it forced to perform acts on stage at the circus? Chained or caged during non-performance time? If you answer yes and find that entertaining, then I will say a prayer you look deep into that animal's eyes the next time you have a seat at the circus. Once you see how miserable that animal is, maybe you'll begin to question why this is called 'entertainment'.

To tell you the truth, I am so much of an animal lover, that I can't stand for my dad to go deer hunting. He is in northern Louisiana deer hunting and will be every other weekend that he is home from offshore. I get upset about them killing deer because they are so beautiful and seem so sweet. I refuse to eat deer meat even though my mom cooks it every time my dad is home. I hate the thought of even cows and chickens being killed. But I try to block it from my mind because I do eat chicken and beef. Because I hate veggies and I would starve otherwise. My dad has 2 deer heads mounted on the living room wall and I hate it! He also had a hog head that was in the dining room for 2 years. And finally after my mom nagged him and nagged him about it, he finally took it down.

Actually... A new line of clothing at J. Crew using fur from China has actually been reported in places other than PETA-sponsored ads over the last few months. I haven't heard an update in a few weeks, but several months into the campaign, J. Crew had refused to say on the record that it wasn't going to use fur, then they did indeed launch the line of furs in 2005. Anyone who knows anything about the international fur industry knows that many furs come from animals that were alive at the time skinning began. It has been documented on film over and over again. Granted, a good deal of the fur being used comes from North America, but that means some of it does not. The origin of fur must be disclosed under the regulations of a federal law.

For the record, I believe PETA hurts it cause more than helping it. Mostly for the simply reason that too many people see them as a group of nutjobs. Your statement that they are a terrorist organization is proof enough of that. Certainly, I doubt you'd apply the same label to the Humane Society of the United States or other organizations that hold the same views as PETA but use reasonable tactics to accomplish their goals. I am just pointing out that in the case of the J. Crew campaign, they're right.
