Man was that rough.& days with no power. Ironically the guys that fixed it were from New Orleans. All the out of state crews can not beleve how poorly the lines are maintained by FP & L down here. Thats the big joke. It's no wonder the system actually works at all.
I will hate the sound of generators for the rest of my life I think!
Just got power back in Jupiter, FL!

Glad you are back. Here in Miami, where the damage was not severe, there still areas completely in the dark, and others that got their power back a few days ago for just a few hours because they remain in the dark. In my house power came yesterday but just a few hours ago we had a power surge.

Glad to hear folks are getting power back. Here in Port St Lucie we got power back on Wed. night. Heck all our lines and poles were new from last year so I think it wasn't as bad here as in some areas. Also I wonder why they don't have utility lines underground? I know it would be costly, but if you have to go through this several times every year and pay all that overtime seems to me it would be more cost effective?

our power in the Keys was back on a couple of days ago. However, we are still experiencing outages for a few hours here and there.
Telephones are marginal including cels. Cable tv/modem is mostly on with some outages.
I think the reason they don't like power under ground is the losses are greater. At least that is what I heard. Also, in the Keys at least, you don't have very much ground before you are in salt water.
