what strikes me about this invest are a few things..

a) it's the 2005 atlantic season...we just saw alpha...
b) wilma
c) the expanse of clouds shows potential for a large encompassing system
d) historical tracks point towards moving north
e) models picking up the development of a formidable system
f) great banding features already
g) apparently the waters are still warm, low shear also

True, but who's to say the Wilma has to be a female? Or Bret has to be male? It's just a convention (alternating female/male names). I see you're point, but we'll need to say "She's really organized now" or "His eye is awesome"... :lol:

The whole point of naming a system is to give it a personality we can attatch to it through its' lifetime. It's a really neat idea and I'm glad it caught on because the names were what originally got me interested in storm tracking when i was a kid.

If you're going to name it Tropical Storm Alpha and deny that it ever had a true "name", can't be retired, and has no gender simply because "it's a letter, not a name!"...well, why name it Tropical Storm Alpha at all?

Why not just name it Tropical Storm 22L?
