Miss Mary wrote:Thank you Brent. Remember, I'm somewhat of a Survivor newbie.....that does make sense. Rafe seems like such a nice guy.

The same thing happened in Vanuatu(the one that was men vs. women that Chris won). John K won individual immunity during a double TC episode... he got to give it to one of the women, listened, and gave it to someone who was in absolutely no danger of going home. Very strategic.

Of course... it didn't help him. Anyone who saw that season knows what I'm talking about...

Now that Margaret is ousted, I am pretty sure Judd is happy. In theory, at least according to him, everything should now be hunky-dory in Survivor-land since in his words, he ONLY had a problem with her.

But I somehow think he has other enemies there, just everyone is kinda scared to tell him they have issues with him , in fear that he goes off his rocker with him....which seems to be his character.

We will see.

SURVIVOR ROCKS!

An interesting interview with Jeff Probst, Mark Burnett and Dick Beckett on TV Guide's website. Survivors ready? LOL Enjoy!

Burning Survivor Questions Answered!
by Jessica Coen

Survivor: Guatemala

Vomiting? Early tribe-switching? An apple for a meal? You asked for explanations about CBS' Survivor: Guatemala (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET), and TV Guide's got 'em, courtesy of host Jeff Probst, series creator Mark Burnett and unit manager Dick Beckett.

TV Guide: Why did you bring back Palau's Stephenie and Bobby Jon?
Jeff Probst: We believed that people wanted to see them again. Steph was this underdog. Everyone thought, "What if she could have been on a tribe that had won one or two challenges? She might've won that damn game." And Bobby Jon was never voted out. The only reason he left the game was that it came down to him and Stephenie, and we had a fire-making competition, and he had taught her how to make fire — and she beat him. That was a pretty compelling reason to give a guy a second chance.

TV Guide: What's with the lack of diversity in this season's cast?
Probst: The overwhelming majority of people who apply to Survivor are white. We're aware of racial [and] cultural diversity, because our show is built on people from all walks of life. Straight, gay, smart, dumb, big, short — it's all those things. We try to build the most composite cast of America, but if we don't have a good contestant who's gay, we're not going to put any gay guy on to go against the homophobes. You have got to be a good contestant. We have thousands of people who apply and we bring maybe 50 in for the final auditions, and of that we pick 16. And it's not easy. We're looking for a very specific type of person.

TV Guide: What made you choose Guatemala?
Mark Burnett: I always consider four factors: Does it conjure up exotic images when you hear it? When you get there, does what you see match up to your expectation of exotic? Is the government willing to help? And lastly, is it logistically possible to get our equipment in and out? If those four factors are met, then I'm going to consider that as a location.

TV Guide: What's in it for Guatemala?
Burnett: [Participating in Survivor] is a major, major tourist benefit to every country. It's probably worth about a billion dollars in marketing value.
Dick Beckett: Production spends millions of dollars using local resources. Plus, we donated five buildings, water tanks, water-treatment systems, school equipment and supplies to various organizations in the Yaxha region. [The show is soliciting donations for aid to Guatemala, which was devastated by Hurricane Stan, at CBS.com.]

TV Guide: This season has been particularly intense: vomiting, dehydration, passing out. At what point do you decide whether or not to step in?
Probst: We're monitoring them all the time. We have a benefit this year in that we have Margaret, the nurse practitioner, and a lot of the time we kind of gauged [the ailing contestants] through her eyes. She would say, "He's going into shock," or "He's fine," or "His eyes are rolling to the back of his head, wake him up." But the truth is, each season we have two doctors, two paramedics, three nurses, an evacuation helicopter and an evacuation plan at all times.
Burnett: It should be noted that none of the women collapsed. There's a moral to the story: The women are smart enough to ask for help, to know when to rest, when to cry, when to offer help. They're more valuable than men on expeditions for that very reason. Men, because of their ego and testosterone, tend to go until they fall over, doing nobody any favors.

TV Guide: Are you planning to keep up this intensity in Survivor 12?
Probst: Nope. We all feel that we did the "tough season" in Guatemala, and maybe we'll try something different. It was a little scary for us.

TV Guide: What's the advantage of setting up camp within the Maya ruin?
Burnett: [There's] more shade, more wind block, and it gives you a sense of a flat area. The other camp is in the jungle, and there's no flat ground.

TV Guide: Did Danni really recognize Gary as a former football player, or did you guys tip her off?
Probst: We never divulge information to the castaways about each other. She knew exactly who he was. In an interview before the game started, she talked about how her father had a photo of him and how she once visited [his alma mater] Central Michigan University, where they have a huge shrine to him.

TV Guide: Why did those "most in need of nourishment," Jamie and Danni, only get one lousy apple each?
Probst: We felt an apple was adequate for nourishment. One thing I'm convinced of is that the audience at home can never appreciate just how hungry they get and the overall impact an apple has on their energy. They digest it and hours later they're hungry again, but it keeps their spirits up and that's our goal.

TV Guide: Why did you shake up the tribes so early this time?
Probst: We're always trying to catch the castaways off guard. We'd decided to switch them early before the season even began.

TV Guide: What happens when contestants are voted off?
Probst: You're taken to a separate island. You get a shower, a meal, your favorite snacks and a bed to sleep on. Once we have all of the nonjury members together, we send them on some sort of excursion. We try to make their time there fun, because we are holding them hostage.

TV Guide: Is it true they all start partying and hooking up?
Burnett: That's considered behind the curtains.

Found this Survivor Q/A on TV Guide's site this morning.....I'd hate to see Jeff Probst step down! And I know who I don't want, former female contestant wise - Stephenie! Let's hope it's not her but she would sling the sarcastic comments Jeff does. So who knows.....thoughts?

TV Guide

Ask Ausiello column
http://www.tvguide.com/News/AskAusiello/

Question: I heard that Jeff Probst may be leaving Survivor. Is there any truth to that?  — Beth

Ausiello: I cornered Mark Burnett earlier this month at TV Guide's full-size mag bash here in New York City and he basically told me that the rumors are true, adding, "I believe in my gut that he will move on [after the next edition]." He also half-nodded when I asked him whether Jeff's shoes would likely be filled by a former female Survivor contestant, so that rumor's apparently true as well. I, for one, hope they go with Deb Eaton. She was a real kick in the pants.

I don't either. Perhaps we should all write the network right now. Keep on writing! Maybe he's just wanting more salary but he is perfect in this role.

And remember Judd's blowup last week.....I want to hear the reaction he gets back at camp. Chill out man.....or what a jerk he is. I'll be curious about that.

And how Amy is feeling. I bet when she gets back to work, her bosses will tell her to buck up and get thru her day, if she's sick! If she can hobble thru on Suvivor and participate in challenges, you can work with the flu.....LOL

I'm interested but there's isn't a favorite for me either. And no 'eye candy' as some of my female buds here would say....no Tom this time around!

Bobby Jon is getting pretty gross again, like in Palau - remember him blowing his nose - yuck!

I just knew Bobby Jon wasn't going home tonight, it was edited in such a way you thought he was and I've learned not to always trust what we seen on air. Even if he looked worried, I figured Amy would go. At least now she can attend to that ankle!

So, are they moving the pool over? LOL

Amy - same here. I started spraining my ankles in my 20s. First time, while wearing high heels at a company dinner. I worked as recep. for a large surgical group so I rarely wore them. I turned my ankle just walking up 6 steps to the ladies restroom. Of course I never heard the end of that, I did have a few drinks! I blamed it on the shoes.....he he

From there I've had about a dozen sprains, over 20+ years, tumbling down steps was my downfall, no pun intended. Especially wearing sox, I just catch the edge of the step and start sliding. Boom, boom, boom. Down. I fell down our staircase with Nina in my arms once, she was 8 months old then. I cradled her to my chest, we landed in a heap on the landing. She giggled. I winced. Let's do that again Mommy!

Long story short, my last sprain was a year and a half ago, while walking the dog. I now wear high hiking boots, except on our treadmill. I made a promise that was my last sprain and so far it's been, knock on wood. I look down all the time, never at someone's face if I'm walking next to them. I've been known to miss curbs, cracks in sidewalks, and down I go.

Turns out my brothers have weak ankles too! So did we not drink enough milk as kids? Or what? None of us are overweight either, to the point where our joints are compromised. Oh I could stand to lose 10 lbs. he he

What I'm saying is I was extremely impressed with Amy's attitude. Nothing was getting that girl down. That's why I say if she calls in sick at work, they'll say no way babe, if you can stay in the game with a busted ankle, you can work with a fever! Oh yeah, that's Fevah! As she would say...what a gutsy lady!

So I hear ya! I also do ankle exercises now to keep my ankles in better condition. PM me if you want to know how to do them, easy, easy, you can almost do them while blow drying your hair!

I will be happy if anyone on Bobby Jon's current team wins: BJ, Gary, Brandon or (in particular) Danni. I really like Danni. I'm sad that Amy's gone; I really liked her as well. Why, oh why, couldn't Stephenie's team have lost? I'd love to see the Axis of Evil and Idiocy kicked out: Steph, Judd and Jamie. Can't stand them. The Villain Triumverate.

I really liked Stephenie last time. Especially when it was down to one - just her. This time, her "I'm always on a losing tribe", is getting very old. Of course I keep reminding myself the editors know she was a very popular contestant in Palau and has many fans. She could have complained this much in Palau but we never saw it. I wonder if other Steph fans are getting tired of her act. I know I am.

Not tired of Bobby Jon though - he's gross but hey, he was in Palau. At least he's consistent!

Mary

PS - here's the Friday morning TV Guide Watercooler critique...she brings up a good point, are unannounced visits between tribes permitted? Surprised Jeff didn't comment on that!
http://www.tvguide.com/TV/Watercooler/

Survivor
Bobby Jon said it was his "lifelong dream" to make it to jury on Survivor. Well after tonight, when he made it to the merge, he is one step closer. I do find it a little hard to believe that it is his lifelong dream. I know that he is young, but the show hasn't been on for that long. I just feel a little bit bad for Amy, who got sent home, but perhaps it is Gary who should be worried since Amy promised that if she found out he was lying about his football past, she was going to "beat [him] down like a stepchild." Whatever that means. Between her and Bobby Jon, I am always more than a little bit confused by their comments, but I'll just go with it. At least before Yaxha had to vote someone off, they embraced the party spirit and even invited their Nakum "enemies" over for a pool party. That's gotta be a Survivor first — I don't remember any unforced visits between tribes. Who knew it was even allowed? Oh, and did anyone else think that the mummy challenge seemed like something that was conceived after a drunken college party that involved lots of toilet tissue? But at least that was fun to watch, unlike the little fishies eating away at the open festering wounds on Bobby Jon's shoulder. Just a little bit too graphic for me, especially around dinnertime. — Angel Cohn

I heard Jeff Probst say he would be leaving....to spend more time with his girlfriend....who was one of the Sur contestants. Un-named as yet.
Heard this about two weeks ago, he was on some interview...cant recall.

I like him, cant imagine who would fill his place.....
