Wilma impacting Panhandle and Big Bend areas says the Florida Department of EOC:

Hurricane Wilma
Category 4 Hurricane Wilma edging towards Cozumel and Cancun, Mexico...Wilma is forecast to meander near the Yucatan during the next few days...Landfall forecast across the Keys or southwest Florida on Monday...High surf advisories and a moderate risk of rip currents along Florida's panhandle and big bend coasts ...

Surf's Up!!
Headed out at 5am for a dawn patrol... waves should be clean and
overhead... It's about time we get some surf and not have to
worry about the storm hitting us.

Models are trending N just a tad. Hope this trend doesn't continue. We know where we're going -- if need be -- but really don't want to abandon home.

i'll be surprised if she's a cat 1 at landfall not...
way to much dry air in the gulf by Monday/Tuesday...
the further north she goes... the weeker she'll be.

Any new thoughts from anyone about whether she will trend more northerly?

Somewhere, someone said the GFS has her moving more north, don't know about the other models.

We're sure to get some wind and rain here, considering Wilma's huge outflow.

Nature Coast under a Tropical Storm Watch now. Expect it will upgrade to a TS warning eventually. Traffic very heavy in town tonight, probably evacuees from the South.

Take it easy Arkess7, you should be OK in Ocala. That's where we're going if need be. :)

Yes. Though we're about 8 miles from the gulf proper, we flooded inland up to a block from our street during the '93 NoName storm. Crystal River was awash in flood waters. But that was one heck of a storm surge backed by 'cane force winds!

Unless she trends a lot more northerly, though, we shouldn't have much to worry about except TS winds and rain.
