There was complete silence here in Cape Coral until I heard a Code Enforcement Officer removing a Garaga Sale sign from the median in front of the house. What a joke this city is.

I don't know why all the animals are quiet because from the looks of it at this point I don't think Ft Myers is going to get that much of a storm. Maybe they are gearing up for a party later!

Tell that to our EOC. Ft. Myers is not far from Collier County.

Here in Eastern Colier County it is perfectly still. Nothinbg is moving, it is dead quite, and seriously my dog who never runs out the door when it is opened took off down the drive way and out onto the road. Now that is a sight in the morning, me running down the road chasing this 4 pound dog.

Cookiely wrote:I read an article and it said always walk your dog on a leash when a storm is coming because their instincts are to run away and you will end up out in the storm trying to find your animal. I told the neighbor next door last year before Charley because he lets his dog out by himself in the fenced in area. Did he put the dog on a leash, no. Did the dog jump the fence and run away, yes. Was he out in the storm trying to find his dog, yes. I tried.

Did he find his dog?

This sounds more like a precursor to an earthquake to me. Before earthquakes occur, rocks emit ozone which some animals can smell.

I don't know if it helps or not but...days before Katrina showed up, the birds were outta here. There were none to be seen anywhere.

I believe that animals can "sense" when a storm is coming or there's a change in the atmosphere.

ClearwaterBeach here and not a bird to be heard this mornin
.

That says something. Before Charley there were many pelicans and other sea birds to be found up there even hours before the storm was "supposed" to hit.

Tampa Bay could be seeing some major impacts.
