Orlando has plenty of hotel rooms, but just be sure to pick on with generators, as the weather doesnt look like it will be very good here either. You maybe enjoying the hurricane from the window of your hotel room. Last year everyone evacuated here for Charley and they all got a room with a view of a hurricane. Guess it beats the coast.

I on the other hand am preparing for lots of traffic and also the possibility that this storm might move north, like some of the models have been suggesting recently.

good question, i am all for evacuations when required but having people travelling all around florida isn't a good idea. encourage them to come up to dade and broward and ride it potentially catsostrophic 1/2. south florida has lreally limited their evac recommendations the last few years and i am glad. get people out of mobile homesm barrier islands and low lying areas and everyone else stay put. geez, hotels and evacuation sites havent always been rock solid either. on that note, this would be a real good day for people south of tampa to key west to get your ice and get food and batteries and party supplies if you so desire and get ready for a 1/2 and power outages. we have knows about thistrack for a very long time, we know the windfield is huge so alot of people could lose power. bag of ice in the fridge and one in the freezer and you are set for 36-48 hours IF you are smart about keeping the door shut.

My street has been flooded since yesterday at 5 and we were nailed about 2 am again as was watkins so this event has started in earnest for our area.

Good post but I would include Tampa in that warning. Jeanne and Frances knocked out power for many in this area and assumin wilma comes as far Far north as port charlotte Moving NE I CAN SEE THE SAME THING HAPPENING.

the windfield will certainly be large and there will be plenty of dynamics in place for a good chunk of the penninsula.
