A Prayer for the Yucatan Tonight
Well here we are watching in amazement as another extremely powerful hurricane effects the Atlantic Basin. Many of us have been effected by this season. It has been heartbreaking to say the least. As I head off to bed tonight with my wife and baby sleeping soundly I cannot believe how lucky we were that Rita did not destroy the Upper TX Coast. It still hurts to remember Katrina's destruction There is a song that solidified Katrina for the rest of my life as I watched CNN during my Labor Day vacation. Several of our friends at Storm2k lost everything this hurricane season and the pictures and videos I have seen will be instilled forever. My daughter overheating during the Rita evaction was a true turning point in my life. All the stress in life I thought I had was immaterial. When you really feel all you have will be lost its a humbling experience. You learn you can start over from ground zero and all will be well as long as you have your family and friends. Tonight I watch Wilma headed into the Yucatan with the core of the storm just moving onhsore. I have enjoyed Cancun and Cozmel in the past. Its also a region with many poor and hope and pray they are all safe as Wilma draws near. What a sobering season this has been from the humanity aspect. Sorry for any typos....typing what a I feel.

Amen! If hurricanes can teach us anything, is that we are all not so different. Rich, poor, white, black, hispanic, asian, we all want the best for for families, and all feel the same sorrow of loss. I have rooted on hurricanes through 25 years of surfing. I dont think I will ever look at them the same way again. I ahope to NEVER, see a son of a b!@#$ season like this again.
