MUST READ - Two things here

#1 Postby wxmann_91 » Thu Oct 20, 2005 7:37 pm

Since many of my threads have been incredibally unpopular, I added a MUST READ for those who won't read it. :D

1) (not really important) Someone please archive the radar images. I'm booked tomorrow.

2) (VERY IMPORTANT) - DO NOT hotlink or even visit the Mexican websites, their servers WILL crash (as we have all learned from Emily and Ivan), and you'll have to wait 30 minutes for a single image. Furthermore, there are some people who don't know about the mirror sites (will post down below), who may need the data.

Here is a good mirror site:

If anyone has any more then please post them here.

EDIT: Forget about the first thing, I realized the mirror site above archives images all the way to the beginning. Also, should this thread be stickied as a reminder?

If you speed this image up, looks more like a northly run as of now. http://flhurricane.com/imageanimator.php?12

I agree. I see a definite north track in the last few frames. I am going to book mark that site and watch this thing. This may be history in the making as we speak.

To me it looks like vestiges of the wild trochoidal wobbles that we were seeing a day ago. But with the larger eye, the wobble cycles have definitely smoothed out dramatically.

The last few frames have been near north, but is it a trend or a wobble? If it's a trend it could mean much less damage for Cozumel and Cancun, but it can't be good for south Florida.

BTW, for those places on the eastern side of the Yucatan, the ocean is pretty deep there, and the maximum possible surge isn't all that great. The Gulf coast of Florida is a whole different issue regarding surge, with the continental shelf extending far out into the waters, allowing much more water to pile up as the hurricane approaches landfall.
