Now that's more like it! We've now got the media coverage of the storm here in Tampa that we should have had yesterday (good thing the storm slowed down...) We're now overtly taking this storm seriously, and I feel much more confident that the proper steps will be taken throughout Hillsborough and Pinellas that should be taken to prepare for being in a 3-day out cone. The media is urging people to ramp-up their supplies, but not panic, not evacuate (unless that would make them feel better
), and not board up just yet...I think the media is right on track with their messages and the schools are doing a good job by moving/cancleing extra-curriculars, but not cancelling classes just get (for the most part).
It looks like they'll start making more difficult decisions this afternoon...

he's probably right... that would put you on the "good" side of the storm...
You completely contradict Max Mayfield. To say something like
that at this time is DANGEROUS and highly misinformative.
There's no way to say with any certainty that it is not going
to Tampa, Naples, or Sarasota at this time. Max Mayfield
specifically stated the risk area...and these cities are included
in it--- Tampa, Naples, and Sarasota are part of central and south
florida.

i agree... but he's probably right... looking at the Tampa forcast....
Sunday morning should be cooling off there... low humidity... lots
of dry air. Based on all the data that's coming in... Wilma would
have to hold her breath for about 18 hours to keep from filling her
lungs with cool dry air.
This is just my opinion... but if she made it up that far... she'd be lucky
to have TS winds the way the front is looking. Look at your 4 day
weather outlook... the front is coming through your area. Forcast low
for sunday night is 59.

She could make it as far north as Tampa, but we must wait at least another agonizing 2-3 days to see..
First time I've been here in a year, and old "gloom and doom' is at it again. Good to see you haven't changed. I don't think we really need to wait 2-3 days. I'd expect the planned curve to happen sooner than that.
I'm not trying to be dismissive here. I get nervous just like everyone else, but when all of the reliable data has not changed much for the last 36 hrs, and with the strong possibility that this will be a Cat 2 (not 4 or 5), its not likely to be a doomsday scenario.
When the NHC or the computer models on weather underground show a shift towards our area, then is the time to worry. Right now I don't really see anything to get all chicken little about.

According to the Hillsborough County EOC, if Wilma follows the projected path, Tampa should see no tidal surge, less than 1” of rain, occasional gusts of tropical storm force winds, and possibly isolated tornadoes as Wilma makes landfall. However, they also note that there is still a great deal of uncertainty in the track, and Wilma will likely strike Florida as a large storm with tropical winds extending out 250 miles from center and hurricane force winds as much as 80 miles from center.
The EOC continues to advise concerned agencies to continue to finalize plans and be prepared to respond on short notice, and all essential employees should be given time to get their families and property prepared as soon as possible so they will ready to perform their emergency assignments as needed.

Please retract that doom and gloom statement, There is no reason to flame me.
But it is absolutely true that we won't know where Wilma is going until the trough picks her up and brings her there.. Could be Tampa, could be the Keys, could miss Florida..
We don't know.. So excuse me.. I cover every potential perameter and am not a doom and gloomer thank you very much..
I happened to have a lot of friends who were whipped by the 3 canes up here last year.. I myself got a big scare from Charley, but am still incredibly fascinated by the power of these winds. I am not afraid to admit that Charley DID NOT take that away.
So excuse me but please retract the doom and gloom statement..
