Tampa or Naples - What to watch for...

#1 Postby caneman » Thu Oct 20, 2005 5:10 am

Looks to me the models that show a stall have the system coming in around NAples in the 120+ time frame. While the Nogaps has been fairly consistent and bringing it in around 96 hours. So, if Wilma doesn't stall for a day or two, I believe the Northern most solution will occur.

I am going to wait until Saturday morning to give my prediction. LOL

My gut has been telling me that the eventual crossing will be through Central Florida anywhere from Sarasota to around Cedar Key.

I do not buy the sharp turn into SW Florida.

Agreed. That would be beyond a sharp turn, on a dime!

I'm still in the mindset that its really too far out to tell.... There is still a possibility that the storm could miss Florida altogether through the straits.

At this point in time you can usually match up someones prediction with the location under their name here... We should get a better picture once the storm clears the mexican coast

I still have a bad feeling about this one. I'm an amature but I still don't think she will make that sharp turn. I think I read in one of the forums that a storm of this size has a hard time making sharp turns. Does anyone out there have anything to add?

Well if it was to stall...It would not be turning on a dime.It would just have a new forward movement..

Thanks everyone... I feel really really confident in our mets right now  I have 3 dogs ( 2 little and 1 Mastiff) I think I will just take them on a trip up north for a couple days.... They love the car! I'm taking my laptop! I live on the mouth of Tampa Bay they aren't saying much. However I did hear we could have as little as 4-6 hours of notice once she starts going.

Do you remember Iven on how he would just miss any land and go around them? this is what I think She will do. the eye will stay just off the coast and go into the GOF.
But I maybe wrong.

I think its funny that only the people living up there think its coming up there. If anything this thing is going even more south in my opinion.

I still think Ft Myers and Naples maybe south of there. But I don't think it will go into Tampa

There does seem to be a high concentration of Tampa and Central Florida posters who want this storm right over their heads...

I tend to think it will come in well south of the NHC forecast too. They may be keeping the forecast track where it is so as to prevent people in south and central Florida from letting their guard down. Sort of a CYA thing.
