By far...one of the strongest hurricanes ever, hitting one of the most (if not THE most) vulnerable places ever.

Maybe not the strongest, but definately one of, if not, the worst. The biggest catastrophe in the country.

Worst hurricane in my time and it killed 1200+ with warning

without warning 100,000+ would of died

The 1200+ fatalities has to be the most underreported death toll in American history.

I honestly don't think that people want to know how many died. When you read about the requirements that are being used for Katrina to "certify" a storm-related fatality, you'll know what I'm talking about.

You practically have to have had a notarized death certificate prior to landfall to land on the list of the eternally lost.

yawn.

you do realize we have a sensationalist media who will stop at nothing to make any part of life seem WORSE than reality. if there was any smoke whatsoever they would make an inferno out of it.

go watch the x-files if you need conspiracies.

Not this again. There are still websites today that claim thousands died after Andrew.
