It says C4 which means a 4-mile wide eye and only ONE.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Looks like the eye is starting to clear out.

For those looking for raw recon observations, check out S2K's recon page at http://tropicalupdates.nhcwx.com/recon.htm

Also, just added is a countdown to the end of this "long" hurricane season. You can check that out on the main S2K Worldwide Tropical Update page at http://tropicalupdates.nhcwx.com/

vaffie wrote:If they reported 152 knot flight level winds and a 900 mb pressure--in the early afternoon--at the diurnal maximum--in the middle of an eyewall replacement cycle--I can't see how that could be good news at all. Just wait another six hours and then say it's good news. Considering the circumstances of an ERC and still CAT 5 winds, I can't see how this could be good.

Good call. earlier at work, everyone was like 'OMG its weakening!! 165MPH 900mBAR'... i laughed at them and explained an ERC to the best of my knowledge...

then referenced a few advisories regarding intensity fluctuations and what-have-you...

Erm... when is the next recon? Plan of day makes it look like there will be none until tomorrow at 1PM Central. That can't be right, can it?

i hope that plane goes out tonight b/c it may find some interesting things. If Wilma is at 892 now with the returning cold cloud tops and ERWC appearing to be complete, Wilma may top her own record of 882 and even go sub 880mb

Be honest. Some of you, at least a part of you - would love to see Wilma challenge Tip for the "Lowest Pressure On Earth" title. I know it won't happen. But a part of me thinks it would be very cool if it did. I can't help it.

I might add, I find it absolutely amazing that we are talking about Wilma and Tip, in the same breath, even entertaining the mere possibility.

OK, OK, but I don't want it to happen if it doesn't happen by 5am tomorrow, then it might be significantly stronger upon whatever it hits first if it take longer than that.

I'll say it again...Wilma is weakening. You won't see this storm back in the 880s again.
