Will we see an Alpha develop?

I wouldn't be surprised if we see an Alpha develop this season.

Yes, they are even watching a half-decent wave out there right now, haven't seen it mentioned here yet. It will come somtime over the next 2 months, that won't be an issue.

We still have a month and a half left for the season but the storms can form after that. So yeah we will see an Alpha.

Alpha will become stronger than Wilma .Thats been the trend each CAT 5 passes the other CAT 5s pressure

Wilma maxed out the TCHP in the Caribbean. It can't make a cane any stronger.

That's a fairly strong tropical wave east of us. Probably get some rain and blow a bit as it passes 10-15kts/hr. Get the plants watered for ya!

whoops! as to "Alpha", that's a slam dunk, no way we won't get at least a weak TS somewhere in the whole Atlantic between now and Dec 1. :wink:

It is interesting to see the results of this poll. In the days before Wilma, a poll showed more than half believing Alpha would NOT occur. Now its nearly unanimous among members that it WILL. Not sure how one storm would have done it, even though it is the last name on the list.

I vote yes. I think there will be 1 maybe 2 more TS at least this season. Wouldn't be surprised, this year, if a storm formed after Dec 1.

I think Alpha will develop, somewhere. Still have some of October and all of November.

I wouldn't be so quick to write off November. If I had to guess, I'd probably say somewhere in the Central or East Atlantic for Alpha. Maybe a Subtropical Storm Alpha.

Subtropical Storm Alpha would be so anticlimatic.

Imagine if every TD had become named this season. We'd be talking about the record-setting Hurricane Gamma! :eek:
