The levees are in desperate need of repair. Will they hold?

I inspect the pump station fuel tanks annually. I worry about South Bay and Belle Glade. It would be a small scale New Orleans if the dike broke along the South and East side. I'm thinking Wilma will be moving to fast to pile up the water, I hope! Frances pushed water about 4' up along the inside of the dike in Pahokee, nowhere near the top, but I don't know about the dike holding the pressure??

It's definitely a gator...and judging from the color, I guess it is.

Great book, Black Cloud, details the 1928 'Cane that caused surge to breach the levees -- not a pretty situation. Thousands lost their lives due to flooding around the Glades.
