Fort Lauderdale on Sunday?

Hi guys.

Long-time lurker, very infrequent poster here. I have to ask a very selfish question, so I hope you don't mind.

You see, I'm getting married on Saturday. And on Sunday afternoon/evening, my new wife and I are scheduled to fly into Fort Lauderdale where we are supposed to spend the night before departing on our Honeymoon cruise on Monday.

My question is this... given the storm what are the chances the above scenario actually happens?

First, congratulations.

Second, I'm no specialist in aviation, but I have to bet that if current NHC track verifies, we're look at Ft Laud airport being closed for a pretty good part of sat night and maybe all day sunday.

Another question--will the cruise ship you're scheduled to go on be able to make it into port given expected conditions? I don't know...but that adds to the issue.

Sorry to be the bearer of what might be bad news.

Your cruise company is quite familiar with alternative arrangements for storms and can be a source of info for you. Airlines will not normally make decisions more than 24 hrs out. Tropical storm warnings and greater will normally close both the airport and the port and those conditions are currently expected for Saturday and Sunday pending the speed and track of the storm. If you are on an air/sea combined package from the cruise company work with them for alternatives. If you have booked air seperate from the cruise then think about a

possible

change to an early Monday arrival and skip the hotel down in FLL for Sun nite if the storm slows down a bit.
