New Record in the Making?!?!?

#1 Postby HURAKAN » Tue Oct 18, 2005 9:54 pm

In 1999 we had 5 hurricanes that reached category 4, that record is almost tied now with Wilma almost there.

The record that I'm working on is that there has never been 5 hurricanes with presures below 944 mb, and this record could be made just in a few hours as the RECON plane investigates Wilma.

I think it's safe to say that 2005 is a book of records!

2005 could also become the only year with 3 CAT 5 Hurricanes, maybe if four if Emily is upgraded in post analysis.

If Wilma is anywhere near as bad as Katrina, Rita, Dennis, Emily, or Stan, either in damage or lives lost we could have a record of 6 named storms retired, two more than previously retired in any single season.

With all the records, oddities, and 'impossibilities' we've seen this year - my vote is we just retire the whole dang season.
