Wilma's threat to the Central Fla area..?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Wilma's threat to the Central Fla area..?

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Tue Oct 18, 2005 5:23 pm

What do you all think about her threat to areas around here..? Is she a significant threat, or a minor threat or no threat at all..

Opinions always appreciated,

Minor threat I think, unless things change.

You are far enough inland and far enough north that you will probably only get the fringes of this, which will be bad enough. Maybe you'll get a bunch of rain and TS winds. I would not be too concerned at this point about anything more than this unless it jams right into Tampa Bay. At least you don't have to worry about storm surge like those of us on the coast. Be thankful for that.

In central flordia, I would say a signifigant threat right now. South flordia is most of all in the worst of threat.

Florida. Not Flordia. Sorry, but you've been spelling it like that all week.

John, I am not a skilled met..
So this is purely my opinion based on unskilled observations.....

Seeing the infamous cone...

I'd say we should fill the gas cans, make sure you've got water, refill your prescriptions and take inventory of the window coverings, tonight.

That's what I'm doing.

I am in New Port Richey. Just north of Tampa in Tampa Suburbs. What is my threat level and all? Thinking TS warning for my area?

If it follows the current NHC track, I don't see Tampa/Orlando seeing much of anything(maybe a few squalls), certainly no TS force sustained winds.

You go ahead and make any forecast you want. I did my first one today and folks were pretty cool about it. The only thing that may get you some unfavorable attention is to forecast Wilma hitting Detroit as a cat 9.

Besides, anyone who bashes you will be dragged out back and given a thrashing they'll never forget. I heard some of the mods can slap so fast the basher thinks they are surrounded.

LOL, skeeto...
Yeah, Josephine, don't be afraid to post any reasonable forecast that you think will occur. This board, minus a select few that SkeetoBite is referring to, is often very receptive, especially if it's your first time. Creating your very own forecast is a great way to gain valuable experience...even (possibly even moreso) if you're wrong.

Shameless plug for my own handmade forecast.

Deffinitely not what NWS says. IT looks like it could have a large large wind field.

Yes... but if it goes way to the south, it won't matter. Tampa(especially) would be on the weak NW side. With a NE motion, the worst weather will be SOUTH of the eye.

The uncertainty in the track is what is causing the NWS to say what they are saying.

Now... that's not to say the track won't shift north.

I'd tend to agree with this. Even if the windfield is broad, you'll just get a really nice and fun TS with rain. Which I know that you'd appreciate. It has been BONE dry over here.

Wish I could say the same. I might be wiped out.
