That is at flight level... 5,000 feet is what they are flying at.

For those also looking in the main recon thread:

Random comment here for those doing the Google Maps links...

The map positions are a little wrong. The lat/long in the HDOB are in degrees and minutes. The Google Maps that have been posted are in decimal degrees.

For example:
2020. 1516N 07916W 01524 5031 220 049 140 140 050 01531 0000000000

In that ob, 15°16'N does not equal 15.16°.

To get the decimal degrees, divide the minutes (16) by 60 (0.267) and add it to the whole number.

15°16'N equals 15.267°

Tonights mission is underway so any comments about it you can replie at this thread as we want to leave the main recon thread free of interruptions as the data comes in and is posted.

Let's see what this mission finds in terms of the pressure and the winds.I say that they will find a stronger storm than this afternoons mission but not at hurricane status yet unless it start to bomb in the next few hours.

I'm afraid they may find less than 985mb pressure, winds have not caught up like so many other systems this year.

Those who live in Tampa go out now and see if you see the plane as it flys just offshore. :)

tracy look to the water very soon as the plane is nearing that area now less than 45 miles from there.
